2000 ford f350 powerstroke 7.3

hub locks are still enough that they wont turn with hands. I got a screw driver and a hammer and tapped them clockwise to lock them, it worked, then to unlock them i did the same thing. During doing that the last few snow storms i broke alittle plastic off. Now one side when i went to turn it counter clockwise just keeps turning in 360 degree circles and doesnt stop.

Any idea why they are not turnable with hands and stiff?

Any idea why one will keep turning and turning?

Are they the stock ones? From factory?
If it were me I'd get Warn Premium hubs and be done with it.
I had an F250 and 1 hub(stock Ford) went out, I took it apart and priced the
replacement parts from dealer, not as much $ as new Warn's but close
enough for me not to rebuild the stockers.
It's a fairly easy job to replace hubs.
Should be able to get Warn hubs for less than $250, shop around.
Even Amazon has them for $210 before shipping.
Sometimes there is a good reason why aftermarket parts exist:rolleyes:

The OEM housing corrodes, internally, creating a white powdery coating that effective squeezes the rotating mechanism, rendering them inoperative. While they can be disassembled, they cannot be saved. If you have electronic 4wd, the WARN units will defeat some of the "auto" feature, as you will have to get out and lock them in.
