I run the 65 tune towing my 4000lb boat. No problems.

tab700- The only true way to tell what is too high of a setting is if you have a set of gauges to monitor your egt's. However, a 4000 lb load should not pose any problems in the 65hp setting.

Wind resistance is what kills me pulling my cargo trailer. I normally tow in the kill mode, but on long interstate passes at 75 MPH I have to back out of it if I'm loaded or unloaded because the parachute behind me really raises EGTs.

The Predator is infamous for high EGTs anyway, and I'm a believer of that. Fingers' boost stick should help greatly for older versions, and the new version is supposedly more EGT friendly as well.

I havent towed anything yet, but predator does make extreamly high EGT,s. When I am driving around and put my foot to the floor with predator on 120HP I can raise my EGT's 700*s in about 5 seconds. I would say just experiment a little bit...I am going to go all out when I pull with predator, but I also have EDGE and the perimiters on EDGE will keep her (d-max) in safe limits.

I run the pred. while pulling my toy hauler (12000 lbs). I have no cat and 4" exausht also a S&B cold air intake. I also have pred. software version 1.2, I don't know if that is being offered yet. My egt's can easily be kept in check and pull with plenty of speed. Pred has been working on the egt problem and the new tune I have shed a good 100-150 from temps.

I tow a 7000 lb trailer with 65 tune. I have also used the 40 tune and it works well too. Actually the stock tune works well for towing also.

Whats the difference in performance when towing with the different power levels? I have 04 lly drw 4by4 crewcab. It has a ats triple-lock and co-pilot tranny work done. Banks cat back exaust and still waiting for the best cold air box to discovered. Plus I have gauges. I tow a 30' tow hauler that weighs in at 11000pnds. When towing stock I can't get better than 50-55mph going up a hill and thats red lined. Next thing I know here comes a dodge or a ford and blows by me like I'm standing still and they are pulling heavy also. I can't take it anymore!! I do have the hypertech III and have used level 2 on that and I didn't see much of an improvement. My neighbor will sell me his preditor and I might try that. So ,any info you can give on performance will help big time.

Thx

I really feel that EGTs are the limiting factor for all three brands right now. I can make as much power from a single chip as MOST of the other trucks on the road. However, all the power can't be used because of extreme EGTs. Most of the guys passing you probably have no clue about exhaust temps.

The current Predator 40 HP tow tune is pretty bullet proof. I can't get my truck much over stock EGT levels with it. The revised tune should be even better. Finger's boost stick will no doubt help the boost-lacking programs keep EGTs down.

I'm going to be towing about 14,000# Toy Hauler (lots of wind resistance). Stock right now except for a lift and tires. Looking to have enough power to get over the mountains without white-knuckles.

I'm not looking for more than the base level setting as I think that should let me climb the hills at about 55mph and that is acceptable for me.

Predator seems like it may have high EGT's
Edge Juice with Attitude seems to induce tranny issues

Seems I should get an exhaust, which one? Cat back only? I really don't want to make this truck loud.

Seems like I should stick with the stock air filter?

Want to do this right the first time.

Thanks!

Edge Juice doesn't induce tranny issues unless you run in the higher levels, actually it has more tranny protection features built in than any of the others.

Also, the new version 2.02 Predator is supposed to lower EGTs and if you get a boost stick, it will lower them even more.

I went for a full 4" Volant exhaust without a cat, its not loud at all unless you really romp on it, infact I think its actually more quite at highway speeds. Also, without the cat you can bring your EGTs down a bit more. Stay with the stock air filter, it has been shown to filter the best and flow more than any aftermarket solutions.
