I have a 1992 chev 2500 I just got it about a month ago, I just lost my engine due to crankshaft failure already, Im looking to replace or rebuilt the engine. Its going to be costly and I want to make sure its done right. What type of things should I look out for? I am also looking for a good place to have this work done in the halifax area if anyone has any suggestions.

I think you'll find the mains broke with the crank and the block is unusable as is.
Find a new core to rebuild or buy one alredy rebuilt.

May want to drop the oil pan and see what carnage has taken place....not good probably.
There are a whole bunch of nice upgrades you can do from where you are right now. Depending upon your usage as either a daily driver, or a tow vehicle, will depend upon what road to go down. May want to look into an 18:1 engine, but read up on it, and see if it's for you are not.

If you are going to rebuild yourself, look for a good core(94-96)I picked one up for $550 complete.Rebuild kits run about $1800 or less and have everything you need. You will more than likely need new heads.I got a rebuilt set out of quebec for $1103.(one year warranty)Cylinder walls are pretty tough on the 6.5,so boring out of holes probably not needed.(I have 200000 km on my engine and cross-hatch still on walls)Take block to a good machine shop where they can check for cracks on mains, change cam bearings, check rod ends, etc. If you have any other questions,Ill be glad to help. You can also pick up rebuilt engines for about $4400.with warranty.
