: Weld Volicity 8 vs Eagle Alloy 114
SportsFans 09-14-2005, 07:15 PM Hey guy's!
these rims lock identical?
Here is the Eagle's: http://www.bigwheels.net/wheels/mc/eagle_114_large.jpg
Here is the Velocity's:http://www.truckextras.com/images/products/evo_velociti8_1_bg.jpg
Now for my Question, the Eagle's are about $200 cheaper and I believe they actually are made by Weld. Besides the Velocity 8 rims having their name stamped on the lip of the rim they look identical. Does anyone know if their is a $200 dollar difference in the two rims because that's alot of cheese for just a name stamp or name? The Weld EVO Velocity 8's do claim that their rims have six layers of chrome and have 5 year chrome warranty. I couldn't find any info on the Eagle alloy 114, but they claim their rims are chrome also?
any info would be greatly appreciated.

nwpadmax 09-14-2005, 07:19 PM I believe the Eagles are cast and the Welds are forged....if so, big difference in strength, although you may never need that level of strength depending on what you do with your truck.
Bodysurfer 09-14-2005, 08:29 PM I have WELD EVO Velociti 8's on my rig::ro)

nelsduramax 09-14-2005, 10:57 PM I know a couple of guys who recently got Weld forged wheels and are having issues with the chrome. What I am being told is that the process that Weld is currently using is producing shotty chrome and it is not lasting like is was when these forged wheels were first produced.
I have also heard of people having issues with trying to get weld to honor thier chrome warranty!
What about the American Racing Trax 8 wheels. Look similar and they are forged. AR has a good quality chrome process. Here is a link to a pic of the AR wheels;

ABQFirefighter 09-14-2005, 11:01 PM I liked the look of the rim, but didn't want to drop the coin on the Weld's. I spent that money elsewhere. Yes, the Weld's are a stronger wheel, but I haven't had any problems with the Eagle's while towing my 11,500lb 5th wheel around. Also, go with the chrome finish if you choose the Eagle's, much easier to clean. Good Luck!!

nelsduramax 09-14-2005, 11:54 PM ABQ - would you mind taking a close-up of your wheels and tires. I would like to see what an 18"x9.5" wheel looks like.
Also, what backspacing do you have?
nwpadmax 09-15-2005, 07:57 AM ABQ, I love the look of your truck! Kickass!
Chebby03HD 09-15-2005, 09:11 AM 18 x 9.5" = WIDE! Not a whole heck of a lot of clearence. But I dig the look :ro) And yes easy to clean!
BlowingBlackSmoke1566 09-15-2005, 10:59 PM Very nice ABQ! I love the look of those! Do you have any type of lift? And how much did the wheels run ya?

THX brother ! :ro)
Max Power 09-17-2005, 01:29 AM Looks good. I wish I didn't need to tow a fifth wheel....
Steve Palauskas 09-17-2005, 08:31 AM I bought one of each before I decided to buy the Weld. I have one Eagle in a 20" if your looking for a good price. PM me if so.
ABQFirefighter 09-17-2005, 12:53 PM Thanks for the comments everyone. The only lift I have is the green keys up front. I would have a bigger lift, but I do tow a 5th wheel. I'll get a closer pic to you ASAP. Oh yeah, the Whipple will be on in a week!
SportsFans 09-20-2005, 10:24 PM thanks all for all the info!!!
nice rig ABQ!
