Is there any reason you can't run home made bio diesel for your home heating oil? The tank in question is inside so it is always warm.

It should work. Try running the burner from a 5 gal. bucket. Disconect the fuel line
(or lines if it is a two line setup) and make up a peice of line to go to the bucket, open the bleed screw, jump the safety, and start it. When it is running and bled, unhook the jumper wire. Crank up the thermostat and see how well it runs.

I live in oregon - where tie-dyed t-shirts and birkentstocks abound... Granola crunching gals with armpit hair - kinda disgusting...

They sell bio for use in home heating here, but the temps are "moderate". Average wintertime temp at night is 40 degrees.

B20 is for sale as home heating oil in CT. Winter temps last year bottomed out at about -10F.

I can't imagine what the temperature would matter if the tank is heated.

Thanks for the info. Keep it coming.

Believe it or not, in some installations the tank is outside or in an unheated garage or shed with no heat tracing. Line plugging in unusually cold weather is not unusual in such circumstances.

I was more interested in the stuff you brew at home.

Ya, if the tank is in the basement, it should be fine. It doesn't get too cold where the tank is does it?

Not at all.

Solidifying (sp?) shouldn't be an issue at all then.

In CT I have only found 2 places.

I actually live near the New Haven one. :)

Two places sell it at the pump:

And this place will deliver in bulk to your door.

I've never tried the direct delivery.

Good luck, bro.

Why don't all of us in CT start brewing the sh*t up!

My basement (and tank) never got below 50 degrees during the winter last year (-10) so I would think B-100 would be fine in my funace.
