The thing is still under warranty, but should i drive it to the dealer or have it towed. also is there an easy to use/navigate web site where i can see the problems others may be experiencing with their TDi vehicles.

i use TDIclub or myturbodiesel. com.
both are good.

glow plug flashing should just indicate bad plug or controller. no way of knowing without reading the code. If it was me, I'd drive it to the dealer if it started fine
