This is what I did using my stock airbox. I completly sealed up the front to the headlight area and to the fender openings. I sealed the lower cover to the headlight area with a piece of sheet nylon. I also sealed the bottom af the airbox to the lower plate front and side. I do not have a way of testing actual IAT, but pulling 8000+ TT over labor day seemed to improve performance.

This opens up the front area behind headlight and side fender to enter the big opening of the airbox.

Today I was able to connect a scan tool to the truck. I did two short five mile trips with a hot idle soak of about 10 minutes between trips.

The first trip IAT was 120 ambient was 80 at idle. When I got on the interstate, with in two miles the IAT had dropped to 85.

After the ten minute hot idle soak, the IAT was 138.

Same trip as before. within two miles on interstate IAT had dropped from the 138 down to 91.

Sounds pretty good to me. What do you think?

I've also tried this but didn't test anything. I used some foam pipe insulation to stuff around the box, but didn't do anything where you put the sheet nylon. Looks like I need to find something to do that with. Looks like a good money saver to me!
