Keep the sealed beam design but go with a replacement that has the bulbs that you can change. I used Hella housings with PIAA bulbs and painless wiring harness.

You would need a different grille and new headlight assemblies.

The grille lists at $125 MORE than the standard grille and the headlamp assemblies list at $264 and $279 (L&R).

You can likely buy the parts cheaper but it gives you an idea. You will also need to change the ends of the headlight wiring harness to accommodate the different bulbs.

Somewhere or other I saw that somebody said the sheetmetal structure (radiator support?) that the headlight assemblies bolt to is different for the standard vs the composite headlights, although I find that very difficult to believe.

Thanks for the confirmation about the different radiator support.

Did you consider switching to a GMC grille to eliminate the airflow-blocking bar on the Chevy grille?
