I did a search and didnt really come up with the answer i was looking for, so i figured i would ask you guys! On some of the 02' models, they have the steel driveshafts. On my particular model,2002 Crew Cab Long Bed they have the steel drive shafts with a carrier bearing. Now when i look at my buddy's truck(2003) His has the huge a$$ aluminum drive shaft without carrier bearing. Would a driveshaft off the newer model pickup fit my truck without haveing to change yokes or anything? I'm just not to sure about the carrier bearing idea, and with there being 2 rear driveshafts, thats just a hole nother driveshaft to worry about twisting and 2 more u-joints to replace. Thanks in advance!

Yes the aluminum shaft will fit your truck, but good luck finding one used. They are about $800 from the stealer. I tried to have a local shop build me a new aluminum shaft to replace my two piece, but they couldn't get the yokes for the u-joints.

there are places that can make the 5" aluminum. you have to find a spicer dealer to get it. i know of a place around me that can do it.

A kind gentleman on Ebay is a Spicer dealer and he built me one for my '01 CC/SB for no where near dealer pricing. His user ID is UJOINTMASTER. Look him up, I now have a one-piece aluminum OEM shaft where my 2-piece steel one used to be.

I just bought one for my truck. I had the choice of a brand new spicer one for 375$CAN (315$US) or rebuild mine for 345$CAN (290$US). I was also able to locate one in the US from UJOINTMASTER on Ebay. The guy was very nice, the shaft was 240$ including shipping. The new one was in stock but could not be found in the warehouse; So I had them rebuild mine. They changed the tube and ujoints and machined one of my ends because it was banged up.

Just made a 1000km trip with it with no vibrations; everything is good.

Does anyone know if there's a TSB for the 05's CC/LB Allisons? In looking at the above threads it either mentioned older trucks or CC/SB, EC/LB but not the CC/LB. Any help would be appreciated since I twisted my intermediate shaft this weekend.
