Just put in my Southbend DD this weekend and it is sweet. Shoulda done it two years ago when I bought the truck. The only problem I have is it is very hard to get into reverse and 1st. Its like the slave isnt disengaging enough. The pedal feels great until the last maybe 1/2" of travel it gets pretty stiff. I really need to slam it to the floor to get into 1st and reverse, and it'll grab right off the floor. Any suggestions? New slave and fresh fluid.

Mine was very had the first 50 miles to get into 1st(which i never use) and reverse. Even after about 400 miles it is still a little difficult to get into reverse. It has gotten much better though with miles. I also replaces the master cyl w/ a new one from the factory. It seems that every time I drive it, the pedal gets better though.

Mine was/is (sold it on the 2nd of this month :( I miss it already)the same way. Mine was always happy to go into 4th then I'd quickly shift from there to 2nd or reverse but I just got into the habit of starting the truck in the gear I wanted and shifting was much more enjoyable. After driving it a couple times, rebleed the clutch. Even the slightest amount of air can cause havoc. If the problem seems to worsen or doesn't get better, it wouldn't hurt to try putting a new master in as jesse72 did.

I used a hand held vacuum pump, it would not bleed at all until i put the new master cyl on, it was a world of difference. I also filled my slave w/fluid before install, new master was about 125 shipped from partstaxi genuine gm part

I've been driving mine now for a while and it still is very difficult to get into 1st and reverse. I don't see where you would hook up a bleeder?

Also I think both these gears aren't synchronized and that's causing the difficulty.
