: First oil change

I performed my first oil change on my '05 this afternoon. Am at about 3400 miles now. Man those oil filters are tight from the factory, but probably still better than when I have to take them off when the dealer has done the last oil change.

At the same time I also added amber daytime running lights. THey look pretty sharp, even though I wanted red ones (I know they're illegal and after the guy guaranteed me that I WILL get pulled over if they see me I slowly dropped the idea and went to blue which was kinda complicated because they are only really available in LED, requiring a new signal light switch to adjust blinking rate again due to low current flow in LED's).

Will be adding tires soon. I'm thinking 285/75 on stock rims now and not 265. Thinking about bridgestone duler revos. I already cranked up my torsion bars 5 turns. Do you guys think that they will fit now? I don't think I need to do any trimming as I guess other ppl have stock trucks with 285s and no trimming and no torsion bar adjustment (that i know of) on the same truck.

What will I have to move (or zip-tie or w/e) other than my parking brake cable ?

Thanks in advance. It's great to help and being helped in this forum because there's always something more to learn!

Seeing that you wanted to add red or blue daytime running lights, I just can't bring myself to offer any constructive comment.

I've seen a fair number of trucks with them here and really like them.

It's not like I wanted green or something :blahblah:

Now tell me what's wrong with adding blue ones. My '06 Audi has xenon lights that are not just really white, they're rather really blue purpleish. There's nothing wrong with getting them but I didn't want to also buy a regulator just because of the fact that they would have been LED.

It's really unhelpful to have people like you post in this thread because you are not benefitting anyone. I suppose I could have added that there are exceptions in my last paragraph.

Does somebody else have something helpful to add concerning the 285's?

I've got BFG AT 285/75s on factory alloys. I had to go up 5 rounds to get clearance. At 17k so far I've had no clearance issues. I rotate at 10k and get good wear. Had 53k on my '03 8.1/A and had the same good wear characteristics. You will have to get an alignment as the caster will be off and the truck will want to wander. I don't know about the Bridgestones... I refuse to put anything related to Firestone on my vehicles including farm equipment.-:t

Thanks for the response! Yes I have never ever bought bridgestones for any vehicles (my JD has goodyears, my polaris has I dono  but not firestone or bridgestone and car has continentals (stock)).

But I've read some pretty good things about the revo's so ill try them and if i absolutely hate them Im sure I can get rid of them somehow. Had general grabbers on my 04 lly. Sold it at 35k miles and tires had about have the mileage left. Put them on at 13k miles or so, so they had about 25k miles on them. I guess that that would make them last 50k miles maybe a bit less and I was not always very gentle with them.

BTW btfarm I had a '01 8.1L too (340 horse so mileage was probably worse than yours because I think they put power than a bit in '03).

Loved that tire smokin big block! Hated the mileage... 11 on a really good day and I do 110 every day! But this D'Max is so much more truck...I don't see me at a gas pump with a truck any time in the future.
