Hey guys I was hoping to get some advice from you about tuning my 2500 I just bought it and my diesel knowlege is very limited. I want to do a 6" lift and 35 bogger tsl's and i just bought a stinger kit waiting on my intake to put it on. I love the duramax and am hoping to taek it out to Moab this coming year. I want to know what other upgrades you think are nessesary to get this thing running top notch so when I do head out to Moab #1 it doesn't eat my lunch on gas....#2 it will be able to handle the trails and rocks like the jeeps and things but as well as my diesel knowlege is limited so is my knowlege on suspension. I dont know much about flex I want a fabtech lift but I don't know how the 2500 will respond to that...any help is greatly appreciated. :help2:

First off welcome to the Forum. I hope you enjoy your new ride. I'm not sure if you lnow but diesels are extremely heavy especially in the front end. That truck will be eating those boggers up like candy. You might want to check out something with a little harder rubber compound. Moab's slick rock has plenty of bite especially in a heavy truck. As to the lifts I can't comment other than the guys I know with Fabtech lifts really like them. As to flex unless you change out and put coil springs in the front you willl not be able to coome close to a jeeps ability. I use a jeep for my trail rig and my 2500 for towing it. I personally love my Edge Juice Box. Good power for the money. You might also want to consider putting some SD tie rod sleeves on especially if you are going with large tires. Lot of Luck with your trip.

I can't figure out what I want to do with the 2500 I wanted 35x12.50 bogger tsl's but it has been brought to my attention that with the weight of my rig will tear up the boggers. The size is right but I don't know what tires and wheels to get because I don't know much about tread hardness and how well they hold up and I need some more advice....if I do indeed stay with the borrger tsl's how much life you think I will get out of them? Also what coil springs do you suggest?

Dude...seriously, you will never be able to compete with the jeeps in Moab. Your truck is way too long, suspension is way too stiff, turning radius is too big, and a whole host of other things. You risk some serious body damage taking that truck into some of the tight trails at Moab. My suggestion is to take the money you want to spend on trying to get that truck to compete with the jeeps and buy a cheap YJ along with a trailer to tow it with. Use the YJ as a beater and you will not only have much more fun, but probably come out money ahead.
This is coming from a guyon his fourth jeep and currently owning a built TJ.

Off Road Unlimited has a sweet kit that allows for the swap to a solid front Dana 60 axle. It would offer way more flex than IFS and get the lift you want at the same time. I'm not sure what your budget is but this could get expensive quick. I have seen alot of guys build capable full size rigs, but it ain't cheap or easy. Good luck with which ever route you take.

I'm definatly taking the full size route and btw I also have a sami that I take on trails but want I want to know is....is the 2500 going to be capible of some of the stuff at slick rock I know I'm not gonna stay with the jeeps but want I want to know is am I gonna be able to fit some of those trails? I know I've seen old k2500 chevy's on them and seen big 74 land cruisers on them. Just wanna know if I'm gonna fit I'll make it turn and **** thanks for the heads up.

In that case, yes, there are many full size vehicles out on Moab. They are just at a disadvantage because of size and sometimes limited articulation. Driver finess will prevail. Many of the larger vehicles sustain greater amounts of body damage. I would also consider using a set of tires other than boggers, or that similar style. Several folks I know have said that Boggers, Baja Claw's, etc, really stink on any type of sidehill. Try something more like the TSL IROK, SSL, SX or MT.

Ok thanks I will do I was talkin to the guys on planet4x4.net and they were saying to check out the SSL's and also said to go with a d rating so I'm gonna keep looking around....oh and do you guys know what is the easiest way to re-program my truck after I get the lift and tires on it, because I don't wanna buy a power programmer for 500 bucks and use it maybe 2 times.

The programmers are tied to the VIN#. Even though you may only use it one or two times, it's unusable for anybody else. The $500 or so cost covers their R&D and manufacturing.

My cousin is a dmax mechanic at a local dealership here, and I asked about the Tech 2. HE said that it can reprogram for different tire sizes and that it only takes a few minutes. SO your local dealership should be able to do this for you with no problem.

if you want a hypertechIII I am selling mine. You can adjust it for whatever tires you want. W/ the extra HP you can always use a larger set of tires for 4x4ing. For street use just put on the 35's w/ a harder compound back on.

Is that gonna work on my 03 and how much you want for the programmer.:ro)
