Looking for a small winch that could be permanently fixed to the bed, for assisting in getting stuff in (ie, snowmobile, golf cart, garden tractor, motorcycle, etc); something small enough to stay out of the way, but strong enough to load the toys. Anyone ever do this, or know of someone who has?? Where would be the best place for the winch, attached to the floor of the bed or on the wall of the bed against the cab?? I'm assuming the floor, but not sure . . .

I think you would have to mount in agaist the floor. Unless you reinforced the front of the bed. I don't think the front of the bed would be strong enough. I have seen a lot of bent bed fronts.

i would put a metal plate under the floor or better yet on to the frame itself

I think I saw a kit in Cabelas that mounted across the front of the bed - frame to the bed floor and crossbar along the top front of the box - you might look there.
Here it is: (it's a Warn!)
