I've been seeing this in the Information Center for a month now. The oil level is fine. I checked the switch with a multimeter today and it shows continuity (closed circuit). I can find information on the Camaro which states a closed circuit indicates an acceptable oil level. I would like to verifty this information on the LB7. I'm sure it's the same though. It appears I have a faulty wire leading to the PCM if this is the case. Any info would be appreciated.

You said the wire to the sending unit had been cut? I would think that the problem lies somewhere in that circuit then.

That was for the oil pressure... The oil level line looks fine. I traced it back.

With the engine oil level in the normal range, the Engine Oil Level Switch contacts are closed.

The Engine Oil Level Switch gets a signal through the brown wire, from the ECM Connector C1, pin 70.
Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF. Grounding this brown wire with a temporary jumper to a known good ground should reset the CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL.
If it doesn’t, you have a bad brown wire, or a bad C1 pin 70 connection, or an ECM issue.
If it resets, this brown wire is OK.

The other wire, which is black, I believe is connected to ground G105, (located on driverside of engine above oil pan.. Check this black wire at connector to ground with an OHM meter to ensure you have a good wire with a good ground connection. You could also connect a temporary jumper from the black wire at the connector to a good ground,
And if the CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL resets, the black wire is bad, or has a poor connection.

Sounds like your convinced you have a good Engine Oil Level Switch, so that should not be an issue..

Thanks... exactly what I needed!

We (I work at a High School and have access to our Auto Mechanics Classes) checked the switch again today. It was showing an open circuit (BTW the light came back on). Also we did see a little bit of oil around the sensor. I am going to purchase a new switch and get them to replace it. We are going to replace the OIL PRESSURE SENDING unit tomorrow and see if it fixes the gauge in the cluster.

I just ordered the part (97219246). $43.39

I finally fixed the oil pressure. The sending unit was not bad (it was replaced though). Eventhough there was a splice at the connector, it was good. There was a poor connection in the wire somewhere around the engine harness. I ran a new wire to the electrical center and now the gauge works!! Hopefully the oil level switch isn't the same deal since I have a new one coming (the old one did have an oily residue on it!).

Pull Connector 1 at the ECM, and inspect pin 70.
Maybe the pin retracted from the connector. The pins snap into place in the connector, and maybe yours isn't fully inserted.
You could also clean this pin with some alcohol and a brush.

This was for the oil pressure sending unit. It only goes to the cluster. I've already used the above method to test the oil level sensor and it is indeed bad.
