Just curious who DD's there 500+HP trucks? Plan on building her up this winter and go from there. I goal is a 12.XX 1/4 mile and then stop. I know I said PLAN and I hope I don't get the bug. It is a DD and want it reliable. I want to keep it around 400HP as an everyday/econo tune.

I've been at 500+ for 5 years and 140k miles.

If you build the Allison to hold it you be ok with 500HP tune and daily drive. Been there myself for a couple of years. I do run mostly in the 400HP most of the time. Hardly any smoke when on it. The 500HP can black out when on it but try to stay out of it.

gonna be heading to Big Dipper for a full on tranny build so I'm sure 500HP shouldn't be an issue ;) and I don't want to be blowing black smoke either.

If you dont want any black smoke with a 500 hp DD get a set of twins

Thats my plan for getting the most power with little as smoke as possible and keep EGTs down. Got the twin kit and injector nozzles on the shelf ready to go. Just waiting to get the time to do it and have the down time to do the job.

Hoping Danville will be able to help me reach my goal. A streetable 400HP shouldn't be an issue. On the track and hooked up to a sled (aiming for 575-600HP) I don't mild if I toss a tone of smoke. Diesel's have a bad enough rap and I don't need to be blowing big clouds of smoke to pass Miss Green leaf in her Toyota Prius.

They can with whatever mods and tuning to get you what you need. I never dealt with them but not heard anything bad about them. Other options is down the road is Fleece Performance and Meyer Performance. Only dealt with Tyler from Meyer Performance for parts and been very helpful.

efi live is the way to go especially with the dsp5 switch, that way you can select between stock or 500+ hp on the go

Got a hold Larry and looks like I will be making the 8-9 hour hike down there mid-late January for a little work :)

My hot tune drives around town just fine, if you ease into the throttle and let the transmission downshift there is minimal smoke even on the 500+ tune.

been that way for over a year now and love it. actually looking to get a little more power from it, but not sure.

I DD it on the hot tune (#s you see in the sig) and just drop to a tow tune for towing. bought it with about 19K and it now has about 78k so it's had roughly 60K on the hot tune

You picked the right place for sure. My truck runs great after mark did the tuning on it. You can see the dyno numbers in my signature.

I don't think you'll have any problems driving clean on your lower tunes. My big tune is the only one that really smokes. I daily drive my 430 tune and it is 100% clean, even the 513 tune only puts out a small puff of smoke when you floorboard it. The 552 tune is a different story it will black out the road.

Daily drive mine on a 375 to 400 hp. tune every day. No smoke and gets great mileage. The next two up on the DSP switch will smoke pretty good when taking off hard but when wide open just a grey haze. The biggest tune is around 500hp and is very driveable.

I have the built trans and run a 500+ tune and being that it is a LLY like yours the turbo spools slower then LBZ's, LBZ's light the turbo fast. I have a Varible Maf signal controller that I got from NICK and DURAMAXTUNER and I can dial the maf signal back and make my big tune smoke very little. Or make it smoke alot. its a little slower to light but very clean, and still rips pretty good. if you really wast to do something that will smoke very little put a danville billet turbo on it with custom danville tunes,

That's the plan!
