Don't get it. Ford F150 voted Mototrend truck of the year. What did Ford ever build that compares to GM. Nothing, esp. a truck.

I have a client that purchased an F150 last year and had to modify the suspension just to put a small 5th wheel on it. Now the truck of the year. They were smoking something strange.

Its a good truck for a half ton. Not saying its better than the GM, but it is a good truck. The fact that they sell more is probably why they won the award.

Better question is why your client bought a half ton to pull a 5th wheel. I know they make some ultralites but still.

Edit: why was this posted under the LML section? It has nothing to do with gm diesels much less the LML engine.

The F-150 is far and away the best 1/2 ton truck in terms of power, economy, towing, and hauling. The Ford 5.0 is a 360 HP motor that gets the same, if not better, mileage than the GM 5.3 at 315 HP. The Ford Ecoboost is 365 HP and 420 ft lbs at 2500ish rpm, and better mileage yet.

When we move the HD pickups, the Duramax trumps the Powerstroke and has since 2001. It is interesting to me how things have swapped. 20 years ago, a GM 1/2 ton had better power and way better fuel milage than an F-150, while the F-250 was the better 3/4 ton truck, especial when it came to diesels. Now it's the opposite, the the F250 and GM 2500 gassers are probably about even.

um the ford 5.0 is a pile of shit! my buddy had a 2009 f150 and it just sucked! nothing like the GM halfton.
Now he has a Ecoboost, that thing is nice! rides great, not bad MPG for somthing with 420ft/lbs. and its just a cool idea. don't get me wrong, i can't wait to see the GEN V LS motors. but ford has a good idea with the ecoboost
as for diesel's, if you buy a ford power joke, your just buying a duramax with one less head bold per cylinder lol, and it don't plant its "MORE POWER" to the ground near as nice as the Duramax.
And ya, why the hell is this in the LML forum??? lol

To be a nominee for MT truck of the year, the truck has to be new , GM has nothing new and was not in the running. Has nothing to do with comparason to any other truck that has not had any major updates.

One particular coworker of mine has a 2010 Chevy Z-71 with the 5.3. He also drives a company truck, a 2010 or 2011 F-150 4WD 5.0. The 5.0 has a lot more HP and gets better mileage, and he has driven these trucks over the same route to and from work. He likes the F-150 way better than the Z-71. The 5.3 is a very durable and reliable engine, but it is underpowered and inefficient compared to the 5.0. I hope the Gen V engine fixes that.

GM will be Truck of the year when GM upgrades to a knew body style. Would you rather have a Ford Diesel or a proven combo in the Duramax /Allison. No question what I would buy. Its still a 1/2 ton Trucks... No matter what size engine. Happy Trails....

P.S. Contgraz to Ford, makes GM work to improve the GM Trucks...

I was really hoping that with Ford releasing the Ecoboost, it would kick GM in the ass to get the 4.5L Duramax going again. But I guess not so far. :(

I am excited to see how the Ecoboost performs with a tuner if the aftermarket companies can make one available.

On another note, I had a 2010 Silverado 1/2 ton with the 6.2L, and it was a great truck for a 1/2 ton gasser. Had good power and the mileage was as good or better than my dad's 1/2 ton with a 5.3L.

Does anyone know why GM offers 6.2 for 1500 but 6.0 for 2500/3500?

The 150 is a very decent light truck.

I get a kick out of Ford's TV ads around here for the f150's. "Ford is the only truck with ecoboost" no shit, that's like saying gm saying they are the only company out there with silverado's
