I have a 2004, 2500hd, w/ torsion bars cranked. I am currently running stock wheels and want to install, 16 x 8 mickey thompson classis 2 wheels, with 285 - 16 tires

What is the backspacing for me? 4"? And what spec. is the bolt circle? 8 x 170mm?

Thanks

I have Eagle alloys with 4.5" backspacing and they stick out and rub a little. I think the bolt pattern is 8 x 6.5. I believe the 8 x 170 is the ford bolt pattern. Take a look at my gallery pics. The eagle alloys that I have are like the MT classic locks.

Ya... 8x6.5 or 165.something mm.

4" backspacing will rub crazy. You need minimum 4.5 (0 offset), preferably more if you can get it. I saw one manufacturer that went 4.65, but I can't remember who it was. Your stockers are a 16x6.5 with like a 5" backspacing.

I think I've seen those M/T Classic IIs available as either 4.5" or with a b/s of 5". So it seems you have a choice. IIRC, I was looking at the 17" wheel for myself.

The M/T Classic 2's I looked at were 4" Backspacing. I got the 16x8 Eagle Alloy's instead (look almost the same and have 4.5" Backspacing). I have 285 Nitto's and the tbars cranked enough to make the truck level. With the 285s on the stockers it didnt rub underany circumstances but when I install the eagle alloys the hit the air dam so instead of cutting it I moved the bumper forward 1". A couple zip ties later it doesnt rub.

With 285's and 16x8x4.5 and a TR crank (to level), is anyone having issues with the tire hitting the steel part of the bumper during rebound?

Nope, just the backside of the fender liner at almost full lock. Other than that, no rubbing issues. Also, I don't have my torsion bars cranked, just trimmed the bumper a little and tied the parking brake cable and fender liner back.
