I have an 05 2500HD 4x4 my fuel milage is bad Hwy 15.5 and I have to leave my Banks system off or when I accelerate it my truck goes into safe mode. The code is fuel rail pressure and fuel. I have 48,000 miles and it has not run properly since new.

I have a friends that is doing the same thing. I cleared it and it went away after the dealer replaced a sensor on the thermostat. Don't know what that had to do with it but that is what they said. I had to clear the codes afterwards as the codes were still there when he got it back. hasn't come back yet and banks is on. i told him to drive it hard. he only limped it once. i will let you know the update after i get the info.

you can check out a search on P1093 and you'll see some fixes that you can try. as far as fuel mileage, what size tires do you have and how are getting the readings. Hand calculating is the best way. if it hasn't been running right since new, what are the symptoms and what is not running right?

you can find several answers in this forum and find out what is worng with your truck.
good luck and give us better information as to whatelse ie going on.

I tried the superchip first and it kept going into limp mode it will stay in that mode for 50-100 miles if I leave the Banks off sometimes it will sputter and blow black smoke about one a month. I change my fuel filter every 10,000 miles and I run stock tires. I get 15.5 mpg on the hwy this is what the computer says.

if you are running stock tires, i bet you have even less mpg's as it is off. you are showing faster than you are actually going. check it with one of those radars that they set up every now and then or check it against a GPS. have you ahd your truck reflashed? have you had it checked by the dealer? seems to me like you have an issue in the fuel system and it could include any injectors. what other codes are you getting? has anyone checked your injector balancing?

you may want to look into the GPCM. How long does your glow plug light stay on? there was an issue with some of them early on.

do you have any other mods on the truck?

hope you get your truck straightened out. i guess i have been lucky with mine. I have 108k miles now and still going strong.

Your pressure relief valve on the driver's side fuel rail is the #1 suspect.

If it releases pressure prematurely, it dumps all the rail pressure and throws a P1093 code, and RPM is limited to 2000rpm.

The bigger the tune, the more likely the code. But even stock trucks have done it.

Mcrat what is the fix for it? even with a fass pusher pump it can happen. Have you had any troubles with your carter pump?
