: Locking Fuel Door
speedracer 01-27-2004, 02:03 PM I have been waiting in hopes that a aftermarket supplier would make this available, since it doesn't seem to be on the Radar screen, I was looking at the stainless steel doors they have, and installing a keyed lock.
Biggest fear is I don't want it to like craphttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif. Anybody know of anything on the market? I had a bad experience once awhile ago, with some hoodlums, screwing with my gas tankhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif, just a simple lock, like my last Toyota Truck had, would do the trick.
jbplock 01-27-2004, 03:05 PM You can buy an AC Delco GT250 locking cap. It also uses the tether that comes with the original non locking cap. (available from ac-direct ( http://www.oewarehouse.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=O&Product_Code=GT250) for $6.36 plus shipping). This offers some protection but a determined delinquent could still force it open with a screw driver.

speedracer 01-27-2004, 05:08 PM I originally thought about this, but I remembered someone saying with a Diesel you need to be careful something about Venting or something along those lines. I am trying to get more info on this cap, could not finding any listing of what vehicle its for, so I e-mailed them directly.
Thanks for the Info, Do you use this cap?
speedracer 01-27-2004, 05:15 PM I have to hand it to AC-Delco, fastest reply I have ever recieved from an inquiry, maybe 3 minutes,,, Yes it is the right one, seems like a good deal for a little more protection.
Thanks Jbplockhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
RUMAXED 01-27-2004, 05:47 PM It Looks Like An Hour And 2 Min. To Me?
speedracer 01-27-2004, 09:27 PM No it was like 3-5 minutes, no kidding. Didn't post right awayhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif.
jbplock 01-28-2004, 02:42 PM Do you use this cap?
Speedracer,
Yes, I have the GT250 locking cap. It's designed for the diesel but does not come with the tether strap so you have to remove the one from your existing cap and slip it on the new one. I used a heat gun on mine.
Glad to hear the GT250 will work for you. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
speedracer 01-28-2004, 04:25 PM Thanks again, can't be to Vandal proof out here in LA.
Oldman 01-29-2004, 01:17 AM What a great deal. The cap cost $6.36 and the least expensive shipping is only $10.25. I think I'll try to find one up here!
DIESEL 5 01-29-2004, 01:59 PM Would the dealer have this cap?
speedracer 01-29-2004, 02:22 PM Yeah,,,,I thought the shipping was a little steep, $4.50. But its funny had an incident the other day, that made me order one anyways. Was going into a Whole Foods market (kind of a Health food Market) and some crazy lady http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif took offense to either the size of my truck or its a Diesel, don't know what. But she was muttering something about it, as she tried to park her Mercedes. I had one of those strange feelings, where you need to have eyes in the back of my head. I cut my shopping short just in time to walk out and see her next to my truck, Startled to see me, jump into her car and drive off,,,
Hmmmm,,,,,,,, I said to myself, so as I walk up, I see my Fuel door open, Cap still tight, truck runs fine, but I get the sense she had it in for me, there are alot of Strange Folks out there and some of them are NUTTS. Still I did bring it in for a Oil and fuel filter change, just in case.
DIESEL 5 01-29-2004, 03:58 PM when i get those strange feelings , I set the shock sensor to sensitive and turn on my 4 spy cameras http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
BlueOx03 01-31-2004, 09:51 PM I saw a locking billet fuel door in the new stylinconcepts catalog the other day. I don't see it on their website though. You may want to give them a call...

SAYWHAT 02-10-2004, 12:10 PM I have a Performance Products catalog that shows a billet locking gas door available in brushed or polished 6061 T6 aluminum.Priced at $85.Try www.performanceproducts.com (http://www.performanceproducts.com)
Bronco 02-10-2004, 12:18 PM You guys are not paronoid. Thats why most cars have some sort of detterent from the factory. I wass peved when I realized my truck had nothing. I will be ordering the gt250 pronto. In another post I asked the question if anyone thought the stuck injectors could be caused by deliberate fuel contamination. Nobody replied. Sad truth is there are all sorts of people who are offended by big loud stinky vehicles. Thats why I bought the dmax. it was the most refined of the big 3. That is why I am so anal about not creating any more smoke or noise. What would sugar do to a dmax?
speedracer 02-10-2004, 02:58 PM Hey, I try and eat somewhat Healthy, so I frequent Whole Foods here and there, this was the first time I had an outright nasty lady offended by my truck. I have the Locking cap now, though the Billet locking fuel door sure does look nice, $85 is pretty steep, but still cheap insurance.
Wickedsprint 02-10-2004, 05:30 PM Dealer can order it for 12 bucks...
