I had the fan come on one time while towing 14,500# combined last weekend. Outside air temp was around 85*. Coming out of Kentucky, crossed the Ohio river at Madison Indiana and towed up the long hill heading North on 421 at 60mph in 5th gear. ECT stayed below 210 all the way up the hill and the fan didn't come on then. At the top, there is a 4 way stop then a couple traffic lights and when I took off again from the 4 way, the fan came on. ECT at that time was about a needle width below 210 on the gauge. Trans got up to about 175 or so. After I got past the lights and back to highway speeds, the fan stayed on for about a half mile then shut off and never came back on again. When the fan shut off, the temp was back down well below 210 on the gauge, probably around 190ish to 195 or so. Freeway driving with the cruise set, ECT stayed steady at a tick below 210 and tranny stayed around 150 - 160. This fan doesn't have the roar that my 01 had, it has more of a howl like a hurricane or tornado and is quite loud!

That's the kind of data I'm after. Wondered about that fan. It is larger, 24", thought it would be quieter.
Wonder what you would have at 100*.?

Also wonder about the over heat issues? From the '05s
Did you try out the manual shifting, Brockway?

I don't know about the 05s, but coolant and tranny temperatures didn't run any different than they would of on the 01. As for the manual shifting, it does the same thing as selecting 3, 2, 1, and OD lockout on previous model years, only in a more convenient way.

Brock, With that taller gear, betting you are lower RPM across the board while towing?

Should be compared to stock 245s, I'm not sure how much.
