What kind of time frame should I give myself to pull and rebuild my 4l80e on a 2wd truck having a master rebuild kit and new tc?
I'm hoping less than a Sat & Sun.

You will need both stator support bushings, pump body bushing, and center support bushing to do this correctly. Transgo shift kit is a must. You will need proper teflon ring resizing tools plus piston installers or you will cut something. If your actuator valve bore is worn in the valve body you will need the Transgo fix ( boring out the valve body with new oversize valve. Needle bearing kit is a must as they tend to blow up after a lot of miles and I will bet your direct drum is no good. This trans is a parts eater if you are going to do it right.

Does the transgo kit come with the updated seals to correct the 1-2 slide bump shift. Local trans shop said it's an easy repair, don't even have to pull the trans to do it. Mine has the condition really bad, I've got to get it fixed. No slippage and over half the time its fine, but every once in awhile its real bad.

Mike,
I'm not sure if the master kits has all items but I will check and get them if I end up doing this. The tools you mentioned don't sound like a local parts or Craftsman type tools, would they be something I would have to get from Snap-on or MAC?
I pulled the pan and changed the filter out yesterday and changed out both sensors(outer). No metal chunks but a decent bit of dust on the magnet and on the pan and looking up into the gears and such, they looked clean.
Took it for a test drive and seemed to shift better and run smooth but still had the off and on rumble/vibration. Making me think it is still just the TC at this time, but I'd hate to pull the tranny and change it out and turn out to have to pull the thing again due to another internal problem.
What do you think.
Thanks,
Mark

I would think it would fix the bump but may give you firmer shifts in all gears. The kit is east to install and all you do is drop the pan. Most of the kits have a video to help with the install. If you do it, best time is to do it when you change your next filter, you will already have part of the work done.

Any shift improvement mods will require a valve body drop and acumalator work. I am only familiar with Transgo as I believe they are the best after 30 years of use. the Transgo shift kit addresses a lot more than shift firmness; longevity is a big concerne for my customers and Transgo delivers every time.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but does the transgo kit come with the updated pieces to correct my 1-2 slide bump shift? I believe it is the 1-2 accumulator sealing rings that is the problem if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks Mike,
I've heard that Trans-Go has a great product as you mentioned. Longevity is and should be anyones concern when dealing with their tranny especially if they push it harder than recommended.
