: h&s trouble codes
oobredenali 11-18-2011, 01:16 AM I have 27000 miles on my lml now and the engine light is on. I have the mini max and straight piped! The code says fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high range/performance. What the hell does this mean????? The truck still runs great hope its nothing serious

Clear the code, see if it comes back. Also, write down the exact code number for future reference. You could have a rail pressure sensor problem, or it could just be a fluke that wont happen again. If the truck runs fine and rail pressure looks good while monitoring it on the H&S product, don't stress it too much. If you start getting some odd rail pressure readings, it might be time for a new rail pressure sensor.

I have cleared the code many times it stays away when i drive but once it idles for about a minute it comes back! Here is the code p10191

What does your rail pressure look like while idling? Sit there for a few minutes until the code comes up. See anything that would signify a problem? It should maintain a pretty constant pressure while idling. Around 4,000 to 6,000 psi will be normal.

At idle it shows 4300

Ok, but does it stay there consistently? Clear the code, then let the truck idle til it throws again. Watch rail pressure. Did you see any fluctuations at any time?
Iceman56 11-19-2011, 12:11 AM Rail pressure sensors can go bad, Might end up having to change it out for a new one see if it goes away
Surfacediver 11-24-2011, 11:18 AM Were you able to resolve this issue?
THAMAX 11-27-2011, 01:44 PM I have the same problem with my truck was at the dealership and they want to replace both FRP sensors the truck runs great only trips the code when idling at in gear when the truck is not warmed up all the way between 170-180 temp wise my truck is stock besides the lift and tires 3,000 miles to date.
THAMAX 11-27-2011, 06:39 PM I am getting the P0191. brand new fuel filter which i change a few days ago. the dealer is week out on getting parts for warranty work they say the sensor is bad and sent a sample of fuel for testing if water or rust caused the problem they void the warranty that is what they told me the senor $385 so will see what happens
red neck 11-27-2011, 10:14 PM a $60k truck should have a fuel filter to take care of water & rust i hope they took the sample after the filter. i would find another dealer if they are being that much of a ass
THAMAX 11-29-2011, 01:09 PM I have an update on my situation with my dealer i was in there again yesterday and tech had scan tool on was watching the rail pressure and everything check out but i went under the hood and starting wiggling the the harness that run to the left fuel rail it would throw the P0191 code and put the truck in limp mode when the dic says reduced power and won't rev over 2,000 rpm. the connector on the front left drivers side frp senor not the back one cause there is 2 of them had a connection issue so we did the old tighten the pins in the plug up and seem to be good so far no issues drove about 100 miles just something to look and they ran the wires in a way that is bends them bad and touches part of the egr that u can't touch when the truck is idling so it could be an issue down the road. they couldn't
Surfacediver 11-29-2011, 09:52 PM ok... That's good info! I'm glad you got it fixed! Its good to hear that they took the extra time to work with you.
THAMAX 11-30-2011, 02:51 PM yeah it worked out cause I found the problem not the tech there is some wire routing issue at spot on the harness i put that flame proof thermal sheaving to protect it better and by turbo i think the wires within 3-4 inches could get damaged when towing heavy so i am doing the same thing to all the high heat area, don't want anymore issues

Mine is doin the exact same thing. Where are these wires? Could you post a pic?

No it never dropped. The other day the code popped up while in high idle at the psi was at 6000
THAMAX 12-01-2011, 08:10 PM left side or drivers side fuel rail front sensor. it has the same plug as the older 1st-3rd gen dmax injector plug so u can do the ice pick trick to make the crimp tighter mine was loose so i could wiggle it while the tech 2 was hooked on the truck and watch the data go nuts i am sure u can do the same with your H&S monitor it worked on mine so far 500 miles with another code.
