: LS / LT labels
Corwin 09-09-2005, 03:40 AM Noticed someone in the factory forgot to wear they glasses one day and labeled LS trucks as LT, not sure what that is about.
Bunch of 06s on dealers lots where mislabeled as LT where the price sheet and options where LS for sure.
Anyone else seen this yet?

There are now three levels of the LT package, so an LT1 may look more like an LS. Certainly it will have less "stuff" on it than an LT3 unit. When you say several are mislabeled, that is extremely unlikely.
Corwin 09-13-2005, 01:42 AM So LT does not mean leather anymore I guess from the looks of the half dozen trucks I saw.
Cavediver 09-13-2005, 01:52 AM Nope, 1LT is very similar to previous LS's
DURAtotheMAX 09-13-2005, 02:32 AM Its so stupid what they did. Makes it even more confusing. Just what we need. Honestly, GM, whats the point of having the same names for different trim level's...I'd rather there be no names at all than this dumb new scheme they thought up. Now in signitures people are going to have to list individual options because an LS doesnt automatically mean "most of the options, but with cloth" anymore...it could mean anything. And LT doesnt automatically mean "everything and the kitchen sink" anymore...

redeagle313 09-13-2005, 05:41 AM Maybe it is dumb, maybe not...maybe the result of the way people are ordering trucks. Lots of LT's sold with the leather delete option would/could lead someone in marketing to decide to offer a more than an LS truck as an LT1 with clothe.
I noticed the trend to more option grouping in other GM models too, I bought an Equinox for my wife a year ago, and it had an LS package, and then three levels of the LT package available, and of course we went with the LT3. Maybe it is for reduced build complexity at the factory?
Max Payne 09-13-2005, 10:29 AM It will make re-sale better, you will see LT in the classified and think "Leather", not "strippy the wonder silverado"...
Cavediver 09-13-2005, 10:38 AM And at the same time could de-value "real" LT's because people may have some misconceptions about LTs
tmoenste 09-13-2005, 10:51 AM Here's the way it breaks down for '05 to '06 Silverados:
2005 --> 2006
1SW, Work Truck --> 1WT, Work Truck
1SA, Base --> 1LS, LS
1SB, LS --> 1LT, LT1
...........\--> 2LT, LT2
1SC, LT --> 3LT, LT3
More notes:
After two years of being its own PEG, Z71 has gone back to being a package and not a group for 2006, for those in the half-ton 4WD world.
LT1 trucks all have split benches and LT2s have buckets, both come from the old LS content.
Custom cloth seats are standard on the new LS, whereas they were not on the old Base.
That's about it for the important stuff on the new PEGs. Enjoy your new equipment groups, folks.
Tony
Max Payne 09-13-2005, 11:17 AM :exactly: That is the first thing I said when I PDI'ed one of the cloth LT's...And at the same time could de-value "real" LT's because people may have some misconceptions about LTs
SilveradoHD 09-13-2005, 06:21 PM I've been a Chevy man until now, I bought an '06 Sierra SLT
because GMC did not tarnish the SLT brand.
Chevy: WT, LS, LT1, LT2, LT3 (Plenty of unloaded "LT" will be produced.)
GMC: WT, SLE1, SLE2, SLE3, SLT (SLT always means fully loaded)
LT1, LT2 and LT3 will all carry the "LT" badge.
SLE1, SLE2 and SLE3 will all carry the "SLE" badge.
Resale on LT1 and LT2 could be higher because of the LT nameplate,
when they are really LS trucks by prior standards.
Resale on the SLT should remain pure. SLE just got divided up, no big deal.
Akephalos 09-15-2005, 12:15 AM I don't really understand, nor do I believe this line of logic.
I don't think any one of you could sit here with a serious face and tell me that you purchased a vehicle (new or used) based solely on it's badging and with no other influence.
I concede that you may have looked at vehicles that carry a certain badge (especially if you're buying used), but I'd be willing to make a rather healthy wager that you still checked out the options to make sure it had everything you're looking for. Any person looking to drop 35-40k on a new vehicle is certainly going to be looking at the options to make sure they get what they want, LT badging or not.
My point is, badging has always been a relatively loose means of judging what kind of options a vehicle might have. The new badging might make it harder for you to find exactly what you're looking for since there's so many more of them, but it's not going to devalue the trucks.
Realistically, only a fool looking to buy a new truck would purchase it solely by the badging alone. I certainly wouldn't, and I'd expect that most of you wouldn't either.
Knocking Chevrolet because they chose to consolidate badging is just plain silly. The value of the vehicle is going to continue to be based on the options present in the vehicle, just as they always have.
ned946 09-15-2005, 12:38 AM Max Payne....Umm, well, uh, mmm, errr....Well, ummm... and ummmm...
That avatar, ummm well, umm...you know...what's, ummm....whats the story? :lol: :offtopic: :Nothing_f
DURAtotheMAX 09-15-2005, 01:03 AM ACTUALLY I dont think the LT1's and LT2's get the infamous "LT" badge...I saw a 2006 LT1 and it had no badge at all. I hope they do it like this. There has to be something distinguishing the top of the line from the outside!! ...other than the presence of the two little "spaceship" antenna's (OnStar and XM)....oh wait GM made them both into the one silly SHARK FIN antenna this year...grrr...I saw a 2006 today with the shark fin antenna and swear I heard the JAWS theme play in my head...Ill take my two separate antennas any day!! Looks cooler IMO.

Max Payne 09-15-2005, 10:05 AM The LT1 has the LT badge too, I had to run the vin during a PDI to make sure it wasn't an error:eek: ACTUALLY I dont think the LT1's and LT2's get the infamous "LT" badge...I saw a 2006 LT1 and it had no badge at all. Pro400exc 09-15-2005, 11:22 AM Just take the stupid lile sticker off...drill 2 holes...slap you a "Custom Deluxe" badge on the side....hehe
Hamops 09-15-2005, 07:45 PM Here in Canada, it's either the WT or the LS or the LT. There's no LT1, 2, or 3. Less choice but a helluva lot less confusing.
DURAtotheMAX 09-15-2005, 09:57 PM argh whats the point of having the good old LT label then??? Now it doesnt mean anything. Oh well...its just a sticker...no biggie.
