Well it started a few weeks ago, I started seeing a large coolant spill under my van in the mornings. I would start it up and climb under it and for awhile I could not find where it was leaking. Then I was able to find it leaking around the coolant hose that hooks up under the engine on the drivers side, I am assuming it hooks into the water pump, I checked that clamp, it was alittle loose, so I tightened it. Then for several days I notice no coolant in the mornings. Then it started again, but it was coming from a different area of the engine. I crawled under and had a look, it is now leaking from right above the oil filter/cooler plate, I cannot see it coming from the head, but I have not pulled the dog house. It only leaks when the van sits and cools off, not while running. Then tonight I let it cool off for seveal hours and then I pulled the coolant tank cap and boom all this pressure blew out. From what I am reading online, It could be the head gasket. Is there any other thing it could be? How hard to do head gaskets on van? build date is 10/2005 Any advice and or input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

UPDATE: I have found where the leak is coming from. Its leaking from the oil cooler adapter elbow, its on the gasket that sits between the adapter and the engine block.
I talked with the dealer, and will be picking up the gaskets and orings to do the repair.
I will report back.
Thanks

pulled that oil cooler assembly, installed new gaskets and O-rings. Tightened everything up, no leaks so far. I pulled the oil pan and resealed it as well, so far eveything is holding up. I am keeping my fingers crossed, I do not want to do head gaskets.

Hey Stefdogg,
Have you had any problems since fixing this? How hard was it to do? My LLY truck has developed a leak, it seems to be coming from the same area. I can see antifreeze dripping off the oil filter.

It was not too bad. A couple of hours and the coolant pipe to front of engine is a little bit of a fight. Make sure you get all the gaskets so u can finish the job.

Is the oil cooler adapter on the same place on the vans as it is on the trucks?

You can check the head gaskets buy squeezing the upper rad hose when the truck has been sitting and is cooled down. If the hose if very firm, the head gaskets could be bad causing excess pressure, if it is squishy the head gaskets should be fine.
