Boy oh boy.... I'm giddy... I mean actually hee hee giddy!

This will be my first new vehicle ever! Dealer said about 8 weeks till it arrives. I got the 06 GMC CC SB SLT 4x4 LBZ.:ro)

I got the sunroof, dual alternators and the onstar/XM package - I guess onstar is optional now? It was like a thousand dollar option... I got it in white with the tan interior.

Now, here's the funny part... I am new to new vehicles, so someone help me out here - this may be routine. We finished up going over all the options, he confirmed everything, then I said well, I guess its to the finance department then? He said no, that they can not write a deal or submit it to any bank without a VIN, so we would work that out when it came in. He took a $500.00 deposit and gave me a printout of everything with a deal # and said I could call back and get a number to be able to track it as it's built. He did not give me a set in stone price as he does not know what programs will be in place when I go to take delivery of it, and that its best to wait.

It stickered @ 49,600 and invoiced @ 44,600... that is without any programs or rebates or anything like that.

This sound normal or should I expect to get shafted when I go in in two months?

I will be sure to take a bunch of pics as soon as I get it!

Ditto Vic same here. Place my order today also for 06 Chevy 2500HD, 3LT LBZ, D/A,Black w/ tan interior,CC,sunroof, entertain pkg, roof markers, onstar/XM pkg.

Ya my concern to will things change once the truck is delivered. One thing Vic was the dealer able to give a price on the LBZ? MY sales stated that their was not any price yet for the LBZ but the price shouldn't be much more than the lly maybe 300 of 400 more, hmmmm!? Was your Salesman able to give price?

The Sticker was like $50,545.00 before any Programs or rebates YET!!!!
And again the big if is the actual price for the LBZ?

any info would be grealt appreciated

also many pix will taken and posted also!

You guys are actually buying a vehicle without having a written contract of the price to be paid? I do not know if I can trust a dealer enough to give them a deposit and an open ended contract.

Cavediver

Yeah, I agree. I sort of handle things a little differently through the CAPS program, so I can't tell anyone my final amount net the CAPS money I recieve after the fact, but regardless, I was given an itemized copy of the build sheet with full pricing that showed MSRP and Invoice. For every last 3 code option on the truck.

michael nelson

the price and rebates come after a vin is established.IIRC...besides whats 1 or 2k when your getting exactly what you want!...being able to get every option availiable is a bonus and increases the resale value of your purchase, not that I give a rats a$$ about that, but these trucks are top of the line in my opinion and worth every penny!

AZ Vic
09-09-2005, 12:05 AM
sportsfans - No he was not able to give a definite. The computer we drew the truck up on was different then the one you place the actual order on. He said the same thing - 300 to 400 more but not for sure.

As far as a deposit without a contract... I say the same thing, if I have to pay the invoice price on it, I will. It is worth it in my opinion. I see it as i am there on "opening day" for the LBZ. I am not really in a position to say I will only pay this much for the truck. They have the new engine and the holidays coming up - I would imagine I would not have the upper hand to get into their allotment before the new year.

Then again, I'm a freakin rookie... so what do I know.

I know this.... my new baby will be on it's way soon):h ):h

Thanks for the replies!

Vic

anyone know a site that has rim/tire combos that you can see in a program with your truck (gives you an idea of what they would look like)? I searched the tire forum but only found sites that sell the packages... would like to know what they look like before I plunk down the 2-3k

Oh, I was gonna go with the black too - despite being in the AZ sun. Then while I went out to check out what the sunroof looks like in a finished model, I noticed a black truck and a white truck... side by side.

Both had just a LITTLE bit of dust on them. I could not even tell it was on the white truck. The black truck looked like it was years old - every swirl and dust speck just beamed off of it. That made me change my mind right there. I just pictured myself having to dust and wipe that thing 2 or 3 times a day and did not see that happening....

So white it is.

Roger That Vic, thanks for info. Ya I think we'll be ok with the total transaction, I believe GM is out to put their best face on, just a gut feel.

I bet much more dust in AZ than Upstate NY, normally not a problem up here. Ya i think you made a good choice because we travel over dirt roads now and then and it could be a pain.

I would not worry too much about the deposit's without a priced contract.
In most states, the buyer can choose to walk away from an ordered vehicle and
if you do, you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit.

What you guys should worry about is if your dealers will accept the
magic GM Supplier price (a 49600 SLT would be 44600). You can get
a code from a friend who works for GM (you have friends on this forum)
and it is a no haggle price. In addition you can get any available rebates
at the time of delivery. However, if they extend the GM employee deal,
get that, it's better and no codes are needed.

Rims and tires for your LBZ truck!, Options include:
Diamo 8 Karat
Foose Spank 8
Eagle Alloys
Panther Realm
Structure Alloys
Verde Boxer
XD Series
Helo Guns or Maxx 8
Boyd Coddington
Ice Metal
KMC Endure
Hummer H2 wheels
Weld (large selection)
Intro Custom Wheels ($$$ very nice)
MB Wheels
Centerline Wildcats (I have these in 16x8)

I have pics of most all of the above wheels and pointers to the
mfg web sites. I am sure there are others I don't know about.

I have ordered maybe 9 or 10 vehicles over the last 28 years, and each and every time, I went through the finance department upon placing the order. You can't buy the vehicle without being approved for the money) You don't get the loan, but you must be approved for so much money before hand. Maybe things has changed since 1996. (The last time I ordered a new vehicle!)

Sweet, congrats.

Ordered our '06 LBZ today !!!!!! 3500 drw, 4x4, slt.............I'm confused though, on Monday (9/05) when we built our truck the only option was LLY, understood. We waited until today because the dealer said the LBZ info was in the computer, great. Several items were different now (??):

(TQ3) dual batts are an option now ???
(8x5) dual alts, not an option with LBZ ???
Roof cab lights, not an option ??? does this automatically come with a DRW truck ???
No pricing yet either, which is fine. But I'm concerned when others state that they have a total price.

hmmm anyone?

Yes the dual batts are standard with the duramax. It is included in the power package.

Dual alternators gives you more charging power - the standard single alternator is rated at 145 amps. the duals are 105 amp each, which ads up to 210 amps. The amperage is also better at an idle too... don't have specs, but I know it is quite a bit better.

The better amperage helps keep up with accessories like extra lights and winches and stuff.

SnowBandit

I thought the duramax only got one 105 amp alt unless you went to the dual setup. The 145 was on the gas motors.

So All dmax's come with the 145amp alternator. See gmfleet.com order book.

LBZ in in the order book now:

LBZ Engine, Duramax 6600 Turbo Diesel V8 (360 HP [268.0 kW] @ 3200 rpm, 650 lb.-ft. [881.0 N-m] @ 1600 rpm)
1 - Requires (MW7) Transmission, Allison 1000 6-speed automatic. We are pleased to announce that our enhanced Duramax engine is scheduled to begin production the week of September 26, 2005. Beginning September 8th, the new Duramax Diesel RPO will be changed to (LBZ) for the (MW7) Automatic Transmission. The Duramax Diesel RPO code for the (ML6) Manual Transmission will continue to be (LLY). VOMs will accept (LBZ) orders beginning on September 8th. GM AutoBook and OnLine Order Guides will be updated no later than September 12.
To facilitate phasing into the new (LBZ) Duramax diesel, it has become necessary to change some “In System” orders that were ordered both “Sold” and “Stock”. Please see the attached list of Automatic Transmission (MW7) equipped orders that were changed from (LLY) to (LBZ).
All pricing issues surrounding this change have not been finalized at the time of this message and will be forthcoming once a final determination is made.

The Duramax pickups are built in either Flint or Pontiac, Michigan.

The plant that is in Lousiana, is in Shreveport, and it had no damage. They builld Colorado and Canyon pickups and the Hummer H3.

I think you dealer is either out of allocation or he was holding the order to make sure it is an LBZ. The LBZ could not be ordered until this last Wednesday.

I agree Az. I went to the dealer and found 2 - 06 models. One was white and one was Black. They were not side by side though. Will it is fact that orders are being filled now with TPW dates, it sounds like your dealer is not up to speed and need to go the extra mile. It is available to order although actual pricing for the LBZ is not available yet, the coding is there for the salesman to make the order. The website isn't updated yet

That's correct, we ordered ours last week (9/09), no pricing on the LBZ, but our order sheet shows a "W/A" (will advise) designation code in the MSRP column for a few different items.

My view is, I'm going to order anyway (LBZ), I basically put a deposit to get our name in line.

Just ordered mine too. A GMC E/C 4x4 cab/chassis LBZ. I'm new to the forum. I'm a very "enthusiastic" diesel guy, having had years of fun with my '97 Dodge Cummins(450 hp).
I have a four-truck fleet of 1-ton flatbeds, 2 Dodges, an 05 LLY and now my new LBZ. Each rig hauls and tows about 15,000 lbs gross. I've been reading this forum for a year.
I've switched to GMC because Dodge no longer offers cab-chassis. You have to buy a dually pickup and remove the bed but then you're still stuck with the 10" wider dually axle, stupid.
I can't wait to get the new truck and see how it stacks up. My 05 LLY is doing very well but I'm not familiar with it, an employee drives it.
I've never had an automatic before but the Allison has changed my mind.
I'm getting the electronic transfer case shifter, any problems with these?
Good to meet everyone, Cheers

Ordered mine today also, 06 Silverado LT3 Dmax LBZ,2wd,EC,SB
Won't know the order# till Tuesday. Sxit don't happen on the weekends you know.
Now I gotta get rid of my 03 LB7 Dmax or trade it.
And Oh btw it looks like they only up the price of the LBZ by $40.00 from what I priced the LLY earlier in the week.

My Wife had a black car at the same time I had a white truck. I also observed the same thing. White looked mostly clean, her car always looked like it needed a wash.

Doe a TPW of 10-3 mean it will get done that week?

if it is 10-3, when should I expect the truck to arrive at the dealer?

Thanks!

Vic

Ordered 9/8, had "sales order #" and TPW that day, and confirmed and moved up 1 week about 2 week later. Dealer had allocation.

Hmmm.

Put deposit on mine 9/9.
Just got my SON#, 7-8 days later.

No word on the TPW, dealer claims possibly later this week, that would put me 2 weeks after I ordered.

I'm worried possibly my truck was not ordered that day (9/9), maybe four - five days later. But I guess since I got the SON# it's a "good" sign, right ??

Add me to the list...ordered today. ):h
I was told there was a "constraint" on the LBZ though. :(

Now I'm wondeirng..."what have I done?"
My order was picked up by chevy (w/ the LBZ).
This is my first 1 ton truck...this is a REAL truck.
:muahaha: :help: :exactly:
I feel like I need to go to the DMV to get some sort of special permit now.

Vic,

A TPW of 10-3 will almost certainly mean your truck will be produced that week. Then it will need to get loaded on to a rail car and headed your way. Probably two weeks for transit time. Maybe Howard_M18 can help you trim this time, as he seems to have shipping connections within GM.

I have a TPW of 10-3 also, but I am only 250 miles from Flint, so hopefully my unit will be shipped via truck.................

When you place a build order, do you know what you are paying for the truck? Current rebates excluded.

There were obviously a lot of people waiting to order the LBZ! They started taking orders on the 8th.....so they filled over four weeks of production orders in four business days...WOW

We ordered a Weekend Warrior 5er the week before the GMC, was hoping to have that by Halloween but it doesn't look like that will happen. Oh well.

I'm soooooo frik'n excited.
