duramaxphil 09-08-2005, 12:35 PM anybody tell me the best suspension lift for a 2500hd. Who has the best deal or price. i dont know if 6in or 4in is good enough for me. My body has a 4in lift with his ford and runs 35's. i want to run 33's or 35's. how does the chevy's height compare to the superduyty's? can anyone help me with this? thanks
CHEW7 09-08-2005, 02:27 PM Hey Man, I Am Trying To Fine Out The Same Thing, Good Luck And Let Me Know If You Find Out. Thanks
titanspanker01 09-08-2005, 02:52 PM at the dealership we install pro comp 6in lifts. the last one we did had 35in toyo mt's with 20" rims. it looked really good. i think it is one of the nicer lift kits!
gmperfomance03 09-08-2005, 03:11 PM I've heard alot of good things about Cognito kits. They have a 7-9'' kit and seem to be high quality, however they also seem to be high price. RCD and Rancho are also good kits and reasonably priced. I'd stay away from Superlift & Fabtech. Pro-comp seems to put out an ok kit. Definately go with the 6'' kit you won't regret it and the price difference between 4-6'' kits are minimal

I agree 100%. I have the 12" Cognito lift kit and I must say its a heavy duty kit. You get what you pay for...
DEEZL72 09-08-2005, 03:23 PM The pro Comp lift tends to stick the front tires outside of the wheelwells about 2 or 3 inches. Which is OK if that's the look you are going for.... More a a pre-runner type deal. If you want the Front end lifted and not widened try the RCD or CST lifts. They all really good kits. Whichever you choose I'd have it professionally installed unless you are pretty comfortable with grinding, light welding and fabrication. My 1500 HD had an RCD 6" lift installed on it so I've had experience with both RCD and CST now...Really nice lifts.... Great fit, Stiff and tight, Better ride than stock and no odd tire wear. As a matter of fact I put over 40k Miles on a set of 35" BFG all terrain TA's and sold the truck with those tires on it. Looked only half spent with 2 rotations! In my opinion RCD and CST make the finest lifts on the market for the 2500 HD.
Liftedhdrado 09-08-2005, 03:34 PM The good thing about Cognito its a bolt on kit vs some of these other kits that you have to grind and weld. Now Cognito does make your front tires stick out due to the spindle set up they have going. It all depends on what you like.
JRmac 09-08-2005, 03:37 PM Check out the superlift 7.5. I went with this kit for sled-pulling. The geometery of the CV's & steering is what sold me. You can also run stock, H2, or large backspacing wheels if needed. My kit came with Bilstein shocks & the ride is 5x better than stock. Have instaled several kits with no complaints.
DURAMAX1 09-08-2005, 03:55 PM I am running the 7" cognito. Runs awesome. Compared to my old truck w/RCD, it is a dream. The kit becomes expensive when you add the dual shocks.
aquaelvis 09-08-2005, 07:17 PM The Pro Comp DOES NOT kick the front tires out at all, it retains the stock wheel track. (RCD DOES kick them out)
I have the 6 inch Pro Comp and I love it. I am sure there are "better" kits out there but it depends on what you want to spend and what you want to do with it. Many people like to buy the high dollar kits so they can say they have them. (I grew up in Orange County, know about that all too well)
If it is real off road suspension you are looking for have a custom one built. Ever seen a race truck with an off-the-shelf lift? Nope.
I get lots of comments on my truck, everyone loves it around here. Mine rides better than stock so I can't imagine why I would have spent more for a name. -:t
$4100 installed... out the door. (lift, rims and tires)
bigwhitehd 09-08-2005, 08:18 PM i am with the cognito guys, i have put over 10k miles on my truck and a good 65% of the time was running over a 100mph on the interstate, with 37's, i think you get what you pay for
oNe_siCk_HD 09-08-2005, 09:27 PM where are you guys buying theses cognito kit?
im in vegas and nobody has these???
im thinking about the fabtech 8"
i want a 9-11 cst kit but its a lil too pricey..
how much do the cognito lifts go for?
MaxFarmer 09-08-2005, 10:21 PM Is the welding on these kits Aluminum welding (TIG) or is the front dif. casting steel (MIG)? All I'd have to do is get the ambition to crawl under the truck with a magnet but I thought it would be easier to ask here.
It is the front dif. that has to be cut and welded, correct?
Jason
GMC2500HD 09-08-2005, 10:28 PM I still say the same thing I have always said. If I was going to lift my truck again I would run the Full Throttle Kit. I think they make the best kit and will stand behind it no matter what. Good luck in your search..
sdogdmax 09-08-2005, 11:25 PM I think procomp is your best bang for your buck, looks good and DOES NOT set your front tires out like the rcd or fabtech lift kits.
thats my .02
itonoffun 09-09-2005, 12:10 AM on the cognito kit you don't have to weld anything nor cut the diff. ear mount. you will have to trim the diff mount 1-2 inches but not the diff itself.

:ro) .
Bodysurfer 09-09-2005, 01:33 AM ProComp 6 inch with 35's on my rig:
http://dieselplace.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=5267&d=1118452074
How you like that?
sadams75 09-09-2005, 08:16 AM I have a 4" lift with 315/75R16, pretty much 35x12.50R16. And I have no problems what so ever with scrubbing. I believe the lift is a Rancho, I bought this truch used so I would have to double check the paperwork. If a 6" lift doesn't cost much more, I would probably prefer it just to get a little more hieght. I can't stand when these Fords pull beside me with a reasonable lift and sit taller than me.
03GMC2500HD 09-09-2005, 08:39 AM sadams75 that is the set up I was looking at for my HD. Are you able to park your truck in a standard 7' garage? If not then I will most likely go with the 6" ProComp set up just like Bodysurfer's truck above.
duramaxphil 09-09-2005, 11:15 AM Can anyone tell me the highest lift i can go and still tow a 5th wheel trailor. i might have to do this time to time. Also which lift is the cheapest?
duramaxphil 09-10-2005, 09:34 AM ?????anyone????
aquaelvis 09-10-2005, 09:51 AM You might ask on the Towing forum, they might know. It might ot be th esame for all 5th wheels, call a dealer and ask them?
Phil-
You will have to flip your trailor axles to start and from there you can add blocks to them to compensate for the additional lift you will need so the trailor rides level. No in doing so your going to raise the center of gravity on your trailor which we all knows what that means. I have seen alot of rigs that have done that and are fine. I know before I bought my FSC2800 WW I asked about this same setup and they said it can be done but don't recommend it. Tends to be a pain in the a@#$#@ so I am told, the more likely answer is they dont want to have to warranty anything on the trailor if something happens as a result of the lift on the trailor. As for your truck I wouldn't go more then a 6" personnally if your going to be towing a 5thr. Course if you got money to burn :).
I have a CST 6 on my dmax as does my brother in law and 2 other of our friends on chevy's. I love the CST lift and wouldnt use any other unless I was going extreme. 10 inches and down IMO CST is the best, retains the stock track, keeps the front cv's in specs, and you dont cut off tabs on your front differential mounts. Alot of people seem to like Incognito's stuff as well. Looks beefy to me but I tend to stick to what I know has been around awhile. If your going huge I would look at InCognito, Bullet Proof, Full Throttle etc.....they are the masters of monster. I am not fan of Pro Comp or Rancho.
Good luck....CST.....CST....and White Brothers in SO CAL installed ours. Paid a bit more but the customer service and support have been phenominal....
