Found this:
"The Suburban will be completely redesigned for the 2007 model year.
As part of a ground-up redesign of all of its SUVs and trucks, GM will be offering a brand-new Suburban. The pushrod V8s will be carried over from the current models, although GM plans on tweaking the engine with a cylinder deactivation feature that supposedly grants 10 to 25 percent better fuel economy. Further strengthening the EPA appeal of the Suburban will be the availability of hybrid powertrains derived from the Allison bus technology systems. The Suburban, which will be built on the all-new GMT 900 platform, will go on sale in the spring of 2006. " ---Edmonds
Searching the web for Allison Bus Technology you find that it is diesel/hybrid technology.
The diesels have a diesel particulate filter to catch...well...the particulate emissions of course. This means to me that IF such a thing is coming for light duty diesel trucks that you will easily get popped for blowing smoke...removing the filter or cat for performance gains. It should be obvious.
