Does anybody know if they make a bolt on kit to replace the belt driven fan and clutch with electric fans? A buddy of mine has an 05' 1500 chevy and it has dual 18" electric cooling fans stock. Can I buy that kit from the dealer and bolt it on to mine?
Thanks for the help guys,

I think everybody pretty well agrees that there are no electric fans that can move enough air when required. In other words the clutch fan moves a boat load of air and there aren't any electric fans capable of moving that much air.

I don't believe that electric fans don't cool as good the mechanical fan and clutch system. I have buddies with 800+ hp mustangs that are running electric fans with no cooling issues. Also if that was the issue why does the 05 chevy gas have the elecric fans?

i think they are talking about diesels and the big loads they haul/tow. won't keep it cool enough. check out flexalite fans they even say not for use with towing over 5-6k

They don't have an intercooler for one thing.
I think it might be more important on a turbodiesel to keep SOME air flowing at all times when not moving, even if it's not hot enough to lock the clutch.

there's a fan by derale (well it was designed by g&s a company that build the electric fans for the factory cars like gm)that i know moves tons of air. hey if you are will to test the fan and give me your true feed back canoli and if you pay for the fan i will build you a shroud that will seal the fan to the radiator for free and ship it to you i have a fab shop and i have been wanting to do this to my truck just no time to take my truck apart if your interested pm me and i will give you my shop number this goes for anyone interested i will do it for 3 people so i can have a good baseline. i use this set up on very high hp cars that have had outragous over heating problems and it has solved it.

also i think a good idea would be to run 2 of these fans for extra cooling but i have to take measurments the fans pull 2800 cfm and will pull from ever inch of the rad with this shroud
