I went to a truck performance shop and checked out a Bully Dog Power Pup today. They also had a SuperChip programmer as well. The salesman said that I would not need intake or exhaust mods if I only run the 1st or 2nd program which is ok with me since I only want to gain some extra towing power and an increase in mpg would be a bonus. He also said I would not do any damage to the engine or transmission with the 1st or 2nd setting. Is that correct?
I was skimming through the instructions for the Power Pup and I think I read that I would have to remove 4 fuses everytime I want to change the program. That doesn't sound very convenient to me. Is this a big deal?
What would be the best setting for daily driving around town with the Power Pup?
The Power Pup seems to be an easy to use product (except for pulling fuses every time you change the program). Hard for a GM technician to detect I think.
The salesman at the shop did not seem to know a lot about the Power Pup or the SuperChip products but was pushing the Power Pup much harder. They want $539 for the Power Pup. I think the vendors on this site sell for less. The more I learn about all these programmers and modules and downloaders the mor confused I get.
