I went to a truck performance shop and checked out a Bully Dog Power Pup today. They also had a SuperChip programmer as well. The salesman said that I would not need intake or exhaust mods if I only run the 1st or 2nd program which is ok with me since I only want to gain some extra towing power and an increase in mpg would be a bonus. He also said I would not do any damage to the engine or transmission with the 1st or 2nd setting. Is that correct?

I was skimming through the instructions for the Power Pup and I think I read that I would have to remove 4 fuses everytime I want to change the program. That doesn't sound very convenient to me. Is this a big deal?

What would be the best setting for daily driving around town with the Power Pup?

The Power Pup seems to be an easy to use product (except for pulling fuses every time you change the program). Hard for a GM technician to detect I think.

The salesman at the shop did not seem to know a lot about the Power Pup or the SuperChip products but was pushing the Power Pup much harder. They want $539 for the Power Pup. I think the vendors on this site sell for less. The more I learn about all these programmers and modules and downloaders the mor confused I get.

I just got a used Power pup for $200.00 from a member here. I loaded it last night and the truck runs like a bat out of He**. I just down loaded stage one the 55 horse power. Pulling the fuses is a piece of cake. The download took maybe 5 minutes.

I do have an after market muffler by magnaflow. I got 1-2 mpg more with just the muffler. I just filled up so I don't know mpg with the power pup.

I bought a refurb pup for my LLY a couple weeks ago for $235 to my door and am very happy with it. IMHO your getting ripped paying $500+. Maybe that includes an intake kit or something???

I pulled the fuses the first go out of the box. After reading experiences here going from one program to another I don't pull them anymore, going back to stock I may. I just make sure everything is turned off; interior lights, a/c fan, radio, etc.

I have tried all 3 setting and think the 75hp suits me the best for now. Probably once I get some exhaust upgrades I'll try the 95hp a little longer. Fuel mileage seems unchanged in town mostly I guess since it is much easier to burn more fuel. On the open road I might have gained 1mpg not real sure yet. Still haven't seen the magic 20mpg but I think it will be there now.

I have the Power PUp. It is quite noisy until the truck warms up. This is for the LLY only. The LB7 power Pup does not rattle like the LLY model. I will sell mine for $250 if any one is interested.

Pulling fuses is a waste of time just make sure everything that consumes power is turned off lights, radio, etc.
