Ok guys I need help.

I own a 2001 that has a few toys installed. juice and suncoast are the biggies. I am looking at the deals on the 06's and have come to the conclusion that i can trade in my truck and get an 06 while keeping or even reducing the monthly payment.

New truck + less money = duh.......right? :D

Problem is part of me wants to wait for the LBZ:ro) .....but I have been driving around with 425 hp for so long that I don't want to be without.:badidea: .....given the whole new setup and electronics I figure it will be at least 6 months before a chip is avaliable for the LBZ.

So i go with a LLY 06 with the new allison.... chips are out and debugged...so I get power now ....this new ally is beefed up right? So maybe I won't need a suncoast to hold on to 850 lb/ft? :grd:

WHAT DO I DO????

Someone talk some sense into me......

I was under the impression that no chips are available for the 06 LLY. I might be wrong but I haven't seen any yet.

correct..the 06's (LLY and LBZ)have a different computer and no power adders are available at the moment.

oh....doh!

So I am going to be without added power no matter what I do then......Ok that changes things.....

Looks like waiting for the LBZ is the way to go then......

See that's why this site is so nice.

Thanks a lot guys.

And I would say its doubtful that a company will offer much to add power to an engine that was only out for less than half a model year(06LLY). So the LBZ would definately be the way to go, I'm just waiting for the suburban to get one:cool2: .

I can't believe that Gm would waste time on a half-ass product re-engineering like that. Why integrate new electronics on a motor that will only be around for 3 months?

I guess the LLY will stay in the MD stuff and the 6 speed hand shakers....so it will still be around but it seems weird to do a quick change like that. I mean the LBZ will be on lots in October right? So two months of production in the highest volume vehicle then it is down to low volumes for medium and manual tranny service.........strange.

......

How many years do you have to pay on the '01? If you buy a new one you might be starting all over.

What could you do with $500-600 more a month? :D

Well here's the thing.

I have 2 years left on the 01.I bought it used....I have 106k on it right now. It has the "ooops we have a fuel filter problem" extended warranty on the injectors untill 200K

After 200K I will sell it, I don't want a 6K breakdown on my daily driver. So at the rate I am putting on miles (about 30K a year) i will have roughly one year to drive it free and clear after it's paid for. I am at the tipping point right now, it's worth more than I owe by about 8 grand. So if I'm going to trade it now is the time.

Combine that with the employee discount and I could make a pretty nice deal. Which is rare in automotive finance. So that's the reason why i am thinking about this now.

After another six months or so...i will drive it untill 200K and get what I can on trade for a 08 (not much) then I will really start over. I will also probably find all types of fun ways to spend 500 a month during that year without a payment.

All in all a good deal now will serve me well into the future. After this the deal will be more expensive.

The LBZ does not qualify for the employee discount, unless I missed something about this?

Well at this point your are correct, simply because you have to take delivery before 9/30. If they extend the employee discount program you could endup having LBZ trucks on lots. They should be showing up at dealers in October.

With the price of fuel and gas I can't imagine that there are people knocking down doors to buy trucks that get 12 mpg (8.1 or 6.0). I am hoping they will extend the deals but we will see.

This is one of those "if it's meant to be" type situations. If it works out great....if it doesn't I am still driving a kick ass truck.

No loose for me.
