: Reprograming a 6 disc HU to LUX ????
Diesel Dragon 09-06-2005, 06:49 PM Hi everyone,
I have to take my Touch screen Nav unit in for repairs that I installed, the Disc player never worked from day 1 after buying it off of E-scambay.
Any way I won't have any tunes for 7 to 10 days till it comes back.
In the mean time I still have my original 6 Disc Head Unit that I would like to put back in temperarily (sp) -:t till my Nav unit comes back, the problem is that I also installed the LUX amp and the 6 Disc is still set up for the Premuim amp, so what would the dealer have to use as a software update to change it to a LUX 6 disc unit ?
Does any one have the instructions that I could print up and bring to the dealer tomm so he could follow it.
I'm guessing something to do with the TIS 2000 or what ever it's called, would he have to download a program from a Denalli to the Tech 2 then to my truck ?
Does any one have a VIN to a Denalli with a 6 disc Lux HU or don't I need one ?
:help:
I have to bring it in tomm so if any ones got any ideas let me know quickly.
I know I know I shouldn't of waited to the last minute to ask but I forgot about the apointment at the dealers.
Thx in advance :ro)

Diesel Dragon 09-06-2005, 08:28 PM Ok I read Tom's install on the 6 disc radio and lux amp (should of done that before :duh: ) Nice write up Tom :ro)
So now I got the program #'s I need for the dealer, but my new question is......
If the dealer install's these program's will it screw anything up when I try to put my Nav unit back in ?
I'm guessing NO since I think the software program's go into the HU only and not the BCM or anywhere else that might cause a problem.
Yes ?.... No ?.....

TheBac 09-06-2005, 09:34 PM Sent you a PM. I THINK the programs affect both the amp and the radio, and they MAY be different between NAV and 6disc. The only way to find out is to ask your tech to look up the NAV install programming and compare that to the programs I have listed for the 6disc. If the main one is the same, it should work. If they're not, you'll have to reprogram when you get the Nav back.
Also...ask Ben..hes been researching that NAV install for a long time....he may have the program part numbers in his paperwork, then you can compare them..
DURAtotheMAX 09-06-2005, 09:51 PM It should NOT affect the amp! The amp is programmed separately. And If an amp was originally "programmed" with a UC6 in the car, it will still work if you swap to a nav. I know this for sure because I am running a Hummer H2 amp in my truck right now. I put in a H2 UC6 and it worked fine. Pulled out the UC6 and put in the nav, worked fine. I am 99.999999% sure the programming of the amp is in a completely different section of the TIS system.

DURAtotheMAX 09-06-2005, 09:53 PM Basically any "lux" amp is compatible with ANY "lux" speaking head unit, be it a UC6, a UB1 (tape/single disc), or a nav (UM8). The ONLY exception to this is amplifier part number 15054675. This for some strange reason does NOT work with the nav units. It only works with UC6's. Who knows why...
---Ben
but just in case, i'd unplug the amp anyway while you are programming the head unit. That way, the amp wont accidentally try to talk to the head unit BEFORE its reporgrammed to speak "Lux".
DURAtotheMAX 09-06-2005, 09:57 PM Sorry....I dont think I have any programming documents or part numbers. Tom you had a big list somewhere, no? Ive really only dealt with the nav units personally, which only require a simple VIN relearn commmand from a Tech 2. I got that H2 UC6 to temporarrily work in my truck by doing the Theftlock bypass trick. Tom is the real expert on reprogramming the UC6's here...but I do know that it should not affect the amp.

DURAtotheMAX 09-06-2005, 10:02 PM Alright so I found this programming info...I think it might be what you need!!! I think Tom postedt this a while back and I guess I copied it to my notes on my computer...
He looked up the calibrations we used based on the Caddy VIN I sent you. Its the same one we used.
This info is in the TIS-2000 computer, under "Calibration Selection"; each selection leads to a menu for the next one:
......Header.........Part number.....Description........
-------------------------------------------------------
Operating System..15100937......new calibration to correct no audio output from speakers (UC6 radios)
Tuner..................15064112......North America/domestic
Audio..................15064134......for c/k/h2: UQ7 with Y91/Y92. for s/t: with UQA, "amp" appears in Class 2 message monitor, amp w/3 connectors
Equalizer..............15126143......new calibrations to reduce chime volume
System................15100939......new calibration to correct no audio output from speakers (UC6 radios)
DURAtotheMAX 09-06-2005, 10:03 PM Call up those programs on the TIS computer, load them onto the Tech 2, and then load those onto your UC6...Am I correct, Tom?

Diesel Dragon 09-06-2005, 11:05 PM Ok I'll give it a shot tomm.
What's the worse that can happen :frankenst :weld: :snipersmi :bawl:
Diesel Dragon 09-07-2005, 07:51 PM :ro) :ro) :ro)
I was at the dealer today and he downloaded the software to the Tech2 from the Tis and all the part #'s were good except for the last one "System 15100939" it has been replaced with a newer number. But you have no choice in picking the # under the System heading it's the only one available so it's a no brainer.
Any way he downloaded the program's to my truck's "Premuim" radio and it turned it into a "LUX" radio :ro)
Radio works great now with the lux amp.
Thx for all your help guy's and for all the work that went into finding out all the info needed to share with the rest of us. :exactly: :thankyou2 :beerchug: :rockit:

They did another update? GREAT! (sarcasm) Can you ask the tech you went to to please give you the program part number so I can update my install thread? Thanks!

Yes. WIHuck did some digging for me and found that the UC6's offered in our trucks can access the Y91 LUX programming, so they can be reprogrammed to use it.

Next time I go back (maybe early next week) I'll get the number for you.
TheBac 09-11-2005, 06:56 PM Thanks DD...I appreciate that.
robabner 10-10-2005, 08:23 PM I just got my LUX amp and am ready to put it in. I just want to clarify the programming part codes for UC6 to speak LUX. I have printed the instructions on how to mount and rewire amp just a little fuzzy on the reprogram part.
Diesel Dragon 10-10-2005, 08:43 PM Just do like Duratothemax posted in # 7 above and it should be good.
Diesel Dragon 10-10-2005, 08:45 PM Thanks DD...I appreciate that.
Bac I didnt forget about you, I just went back to drop off my truck today and when I pick it up I'll get the number

Except for the last "system" program (that has been updated-just have the tech use the newest version) it's all good. If you have any problems, shoot me a PM. Have fun, take your time, and good luck.....:)

Ok I was back at the dealer and I rechecked the numbers and they are all good.
I don't know what I was looking at last time but I could of sworn that one of the part numbers had changed. :o:
But we rechecked again and all your numbers are the current ones. :ro)
Sorry for the confusion.

TheBac 10-18-2005, 11:17 PM hey..the way GM operates, its totally possible the programs could change at any time....
Thanks DD for looking and asking. I appreciate you doing that.
