As far as I know, there is no on-highway engine with 800hp, from the factory anyway. Unless they figured out how to mess with the software, or they juiced up some old B models. Either way, I'd have to see it on the dyno to believe it.

I heard some truckers who got a hold of a cummins programmer say that could turn them up to about 650-675 on the 14 litre but thats it.

Don't forget about the old KTAs, an old driver around here has one and it's running 600RWHP on dyno.

Here's some boxes that give a top of 175-200rwhp on Cat and Cummins motors

here's some semi drags, how much HP does it take to go 12s in 1/4 mile w/ a semi?

I've seen a few mechanical Cat motors a bit over 600hp used over the road...

Of course, the guys pulling/racing these trucks don't care about milage so their power is much more impressive....Nothing like the sound of a 12V71 Detroit :D

The newer motors have all kinds of displacement, but I'd have to see one put down 800 on the dyno to believe it as well..

Ever run with one of the old 1693's? I used to run with a guy, went by "Bobcat", was from N.M., Hobbs i believe. Anyway, he had restored a 71 Pete, had 6" stacks, 5 & 4, his suspension though, can't remember what it was called, had leaf springs but a weird equalizer that went from the back of the front drive axle spring to the back of the back drive axle spring. He said it was popular with Bull haulers because it didn't have the lean of airbags. Anyway, he had a guy build the motor for him and it would flat haul butt.

What's it rated at?, highest rating for 3176 is 365 hp. Otherwise, if you plan on keeping the truck, repower it with a C-12. then you can up to 430 hp.

I was thinking about 350, I guess I could crank up the pump?

Believe me I would love to drop a c-12 in there, but the 3176 is 12 yrs old and only has ~325,xxx miles on it....

Just can't justify putting a new engine in that old truck.:(

It's all electronic, just have to have the ECM reflashed, or put in a different PROM chip, depending on the year. Make sure you check fuel pressure, test your ATAAC, and inspect the turbo. Maybe one of these is causing low power. Good luck!

It doesn't have a power loss, just a lack of it. The thing runs like a top, and has about 375k on it. Just want more power out of it, I am having no luck finding and power adders or chips. I guess I will have to venture out somewhere and get the pump turned up......

Hehehe, its true, and you shoulda seen it at the pulls in Antigonish. The exhaust was like looking into a coal mine.:ro) The sled didnt stop him or even slow him up, he just stopped when he ran out of space with the weight all the way to the neck. Its a DDEC II 60 series detroit. He keeps the laptop hooked up at all times pretty well from what i hear. No names will be mentioned due to possible warranty issues:). And Its a K whopper. well i should say the one at the pulls was. I guess he can move anythng he can hook it too in short order.

Just did a little reading on the Pittsburgh Power, says...... "Our latest task is to build a K.T.T.A. 1150 cu. inch twin-turbo K-series engine to 1,400 HP. Talk about unusual. This engine is going to be canary-yellow and chrome per the customer's request.".......Damm:eek: :ro)
