: duramax vs powerstroke.
vtpoolman 09-06-2005, 03:25 PM talked to this gye last night at the local fair he has an excursion with power stroke 6.0 and bullydog set up no intake or exaust. he said he beats corvets and cobra mustangs. and that he is in the 12 for 1/4 mile.
do you think an lb7 with a 230 van aaken with afe intake and 4" echaust would beat him? i know im not in the 12's. what do you think is he full of it or not.
ratlover 09-06-2005, 03:50 PM With just a programer unless he has shaved his truck down to 2000 pounds he is FOS if he says he runs 12's in the 1/4. If he dosnt have N2O on his truck and some other work he is completely FOS.

Shifting of the big VA(you have a built trans?) and possibly speed limiter/rev limiter may hurt you. I ran pretty crapy times on my VA but that was mostly because of the shifting I think.
Also when racing idiots(people that completely talk out thier ass generaly fit this category) alot of times they dont know how to drive it and you may be able to slay him off the line.
maxxis_mudder 09-06-2005, 05:16 PM I have a 6.0, he must be Censored . I have more than that and I would be hard pressed for 12's IMO you should be able to take him. The excursions have not impressed me.
The hot setup for the 6.0 powerjoke is the SCT tunes from Innovative Diesel or Biva. They put a completely stock 6.0 ext.SB to the 13.75-13.85 range. He would need a built trans or a tune for the trans from SCT +drugs to get into the 12's. If he don't have a built trans or a trans tune he is full of it!! A 6.0 torqueshift will die asap without mods or a trans tune. 12's would kill it in one pass. I'd say he is lying and you will put him in his place. After you beat him, tell him your Dmax must run 11's. That is what Ratlover tells everyone.;)

stock for stock...its all up to the driver....the fords shift faster because they don't have any trans protect, but they are heavier. It all evens out and is mostly up to the driver. They both have close to the same hp and tq stock. Also remember that Ford has some where around 3-4 different turbo designs they have put on their trucks. Some years of 6.0's are faster than the others. They had trouble with the variable vane and some noise issues, so they changed the design. I think late 03 and 04 6.0 are the fastest stock. Maybe a Furd guy can chime in here and explain a bit more.
azcrf450 09-07-2005, 10:47 PM My 05 has something like 60 ft/lbs of torque over a new 6.0 but the ford has abotu 25 more hp. So I dont know, what the ford pull on a dmax after about 50?
They are about dead even. I raced one when my truck was stock. I have ext cab, he had a crew cab.I pulled him off the line by almost a truck and he stayed right there to 45 or so. I started pulling on him after that, but he let off when he seen me start to pull him. If he had an ext cab, it would have been real close. 6.0's are high reving motors. They make big hp at high rpm and not much tq. On a dyno a 6.0 has about 10hp on an LLY, but about 70 less lb/ft tq.

sundancekid 09-11-2005, 11:42 PM My buddy has an '04 6.0 liter E/C SB 2wd an his truck seems extremely fast compared to most other 6.0s out there. He only has a Superchips and a dual Silverline. I guess the above is true that the late 03 and 04s are definately faster. I haven't had a chance to run him yet, but I think he will have me as well since I'm sure his is a lot lighter than my truck. What's the deal with the pickup they have too, no turbo lag like my damn LLY!

You won't need a new Allison. Typically, the clutches are the ones that need replacing. Go with a Suncoast III, that should take care of you.
