Gonna try my hand at drag racing for the first time this friday. I've read the sticky and a few other threads but was looking for a few tips on a starting point for my setup and idea of what time I might run. My plan(as of now) is to clamp the springs front and rear, and start with 60psi in the front and 50-55psi in the back. I'm going to start easy with the launches since I've never done any sort of 4HI boosted launch. Planning on just bringing it up against the converter but not really trying to build boost for the first couple then go from there. Anything I am missing or should do differently?

Should be able to get into the mid to high 12s.
I would only clamp the front of the leaf springs. I would also go much lower on tire pressure. I usually start at 28 PSI rear and 38 PSI front on street tires then work from there. I launch off RPM, not boost; just make sure you give it enough time at your launch RPM to spool up. I normally start at 2000 RPM and work up from there to see the limits of what the tires and track will hold.

Thanks for the advice. Didn't make it last week because of the weather. But this friday for sure I'll be down there to see what I can do.

Made a few runs last night. I don't think I did too bad for never running anything down the strip before. Best run was 13.04@102.93mph with a .035rt. Probably will go again next friday and see if I can break into the 12's.

Ouch... beat by a PowerJoke, and an OBS at that.
Those H2's with 305s are a good bit heavier than PYO's with 265s or 285s and rotating weight makes a lot more of a difference than static weight on the truck. If you have your PYOs with some tires on them I would throw them on next time.
I didn't notice "traction bars" in your sig until now, why do you need spring clamps if you have traction bars? Are they adjustable ones that can preload the rear axle?

That OBS Ford has a budget built P-pump 12valve and a 48rh. And being its a regular cab, probably a bit lighter. Unfortunetly I dont have another set of tires to throw on. Yes, the bars are adjustable. I figured it wouldn't hurt to clamp the front of the springs but I don't know.

Nice run. Looks like you will be well into the high 12s soon. I could hear the cummins as soon as he started spooling up.

I think it can break into the 12's. The run after my 13.04 pass I tried to spool it harder but it pushed through the brakes. I just need more seat time to get comfortable.
