I am looking at buying a newer van and was wondering what real world MPG you are getting? How does it compare to real world MPG #'s for the 6.0? Is it worth the extra $$ for the D-max?
Thanks
Kevin

We have a 6.0 van for our employee and it gets around 15 MPG. Both Dad and I have Dmax vans and we are 20+ MPG.

What kind of driver are ya?? If you have a heavy foot and do jack rabbit starts stick with a gasser. I can pull 24mpg @ 57-58mph. I am a easy driver and most of my driving is on the interstate. I know of some one that drives like me that has a 2010 6.0 3500 van and he can pull out 19-20 on a good day driving properly. If ya have a heavy foot you will just waste fuel and tear your trans up with the d-max.

Not exactly your question, but I have a 2011 gasser that is pretty loaded down. I've got about 9000 miles on it and the computer says I've averaged 16 mpg. That is 90% highway.

17-20 MPG usually loaded 2 people.Driven on the hard side, mostly city. Our 4.8 gasser 13-15mpg same loads. The 4.8 is a dog.I dont see a big economic savings with the diesel but whatta ride in the diesel!

I have heard of 20+ with a dmax van but can you get it consistantly? 3+ tank fulls in a row? Does a van really do much better than a truck? Also what year? I was think maybe an 06. My brother had a 05 with a 6.0 and he got 14 on the highway, it was fully loaded.
Thanks
Kevin

I'm getting a consistent 20 to 21 on my LMM in my CargoMax.

The true answer is in what 60MPH says, its all in how you drive it.

To give you some numbers,

Gas at $3.399, Diesel at $3.799
Gas Van 16mpg, Diesel Van at 20mpg

50,000 miles of driving,

Fuel Cost Gas $10,621.88
Fuel Cost Diesel $9,497.50

Diesel van is $1,124.38 cheaper.

Figure out how many miles you will drive a year, look at the cost of fuel in your area, how much extra is the D-Max engine.

Do the math.

In my operation, with a lot of miles the Duramax saves me over $3500 a year.

Your Mileage May Vary as they say.

With our Vans 17 is the best Norm is 15-16. Always loaded. Ladders on roof rack.

The last vans were gasser 10-12 was best

besides the better mileage, the duramax pulls a lot harder than the gas, especially with a tuner....then she screams. lol
