Greetings!
We are looking at a camper and the only reservation I have is the Mercedes 3.0 V6 turbodiesel. I can not find any really useful info on them.
I know they have about 200HP and around 300 ft/lbs of torque, but are they worth a crap fuel mileage and life expectancy wise?
Thanks for any info.

We have a 09 ML320 SUV with that engine but at a higher rating 165Kw 510Nm only had to replace 1 glow plug so far (under warranty)
Milage is very good for a 2.2 tonne all wheel drive SUV with big wheels/ tyres. Have not heard of many long liverty issues.

Biggest issue with this engine is the Swirl Motor and getting oil in it. Otherwise a great engine with nice fuel economy. You can find about 3 or 4 companies that are tuning it too.

i work at a chrysler dealership and the most common issue we see are the swirl motors. They go out as fast as lift pumps go out on a cummins. i have never seen a 3.0 in anything other than a jeep, but those swirl motors are a huge PITA to replace. but other than that i have not seen any other problems out of them

I think from what I have read it needs a tune badly, one friend called it a rats ass motor - it couldn't pull the string out of a rats ass.
But for a normal sized actual RV I can take places almost as a daily driver if I have to I do not have too many options.
Ill make sure I get the warranty if we do go down this road.
Thanks for your knowledge!
