: How many switches do you need?

I had a couple of requests for just switches in an overhead mount. So I made up some samples for these guys. Thought I would post some pics in case anyone else wanted some. These pics are fresh out of the machine and have not been anodized or polished yet. They will be available in 6, 8, and 10 switch models in your choice of finish. I will make them to order so please give me a few weeks lead time.

As usual, questions, comments and criticisms are always welcome. :D

Ah, not that many!

I guess if you had that many you could take them to your local engraver and have them labeled.

I need more switches but I don't want to give up my trippin 2 guage mount. How about you make something to go into that useless little square cubby hole beside the climate control.

I could do the engraving but I'm not sure what these guys are using them for. Perhaps they don't want anyone to know.

Were any of the switches ever labeled in James Bond's cars? :)

That useless cubby is about to get a gauge angled up and over towards the driver. Prototypes are already being field tested. :D

Let me see what I can do about putting some switches there instead of a gauge.

Caution! "Mad Machinist" at work! ):h

Useless is an understatement... I've tried storing stuff there but it always seems to fly out onto the console  :D

I think that problem is closely related to the position of the throtle.):h

Hey Trippin. Just an idea. Being how you have toys that some of would love to have could you do somthing like what Max Power suggested, except have the wording cut all of the way through that way some one could put a colord LED light behind the panel to have it glow through to be able to see it in the dark.

Alright, so this should have me covered now: :)

Nitrous
Propane
Water/Meth
Turbo Timer
Backup Lights
Ejection Seat
Winch
Off-Road Lights
Differential Lock
Power Inverter Master
12 Volt Refrig
Manual Torque Converter Lock
Drag Parachute Release

...Nope, I'm gonna need more switches. :)

How much would you want for just a black anodized panel?
I plan on using aircraft style switch covers on toggles for my aux and construction lighting, but I'm not sure how many I'm going to use.

Yeah, I need all the switches that Coyotekid sudjested, plus two more switches...one for "warp speed" and the other for my tactical nuke launcher.

no seriously, I do need switches for those two functions.

It would be nice to have the left side ported for a duel gauge and the right for 2 to 4 switches.

Duel for EGT and Boost

The switches could be for two airbags, lights and a Soup dial? ):h

I have no problem with my Cubbyz

Two things:

It's not centered.
We've already determined that thing doesn't accelerate fast but once a year so things falling onto the console definitely isn't a problem.

Trippin,
What about a panel for the center console between the 2 power ports? Maybe put a couple of switches there. Say Hi to Cordell across the street for me.

I'm thinking $65.00 for the mount and then $3.25/switch. In the case of 8 switch mount $65.00+24.00 = $89.00.

I could do that but it seems like a pretty simple thing. I think most could do it themselves very easily.

The SPA DG-211 os a great digital EGT/boost gauge all in one.

I like those...

Do those switches come as momentary switches?

RichLockyer
02-15-2006, 11:49 PM
Ya, digital is the only way to go with duals.
With analog, there's not enough resolution to really see what's going on... it's like running a 0-60 or -30-0-30 boost gauge with a stock turbo. You don't care about vacuum, and anything over 30psi is playing with fire.

Is there such a thing as an analog dual? Is "spa" the only digital one out there, or is there any others?

I used the cubby on left of the wheel where most of you have your 4x4 switches. I made a billet plate and gave it a brushed finish...I was thinking the sun might hit just right if it was polished and burn out my eye! I put four of the same switches Trippen uses in it. Nice and handy when it's go time! I'll try to remeber and take some pics to post.

Donno. I'm sure there are a few. I remember seeing one in blue...can't remmeber who? TS performance has that "heads up" display thing....
I'd give John a call and see what has to say.

Not sure what happened to the pic but yeah I would like to polish it and get see if i can find a smoked clear. I put a few coats of satin clear on it so finger prints don't show up on it.
Didn't think about selling them, but i guess I could put them on our web page. Easy enough! I just need the time to crank some out!

I bought a blank machine-finished one from Tripp and drilled it for my own switches AND for a slightly modified Lexus HomeLink, then painted it satin black and baked it for an hour at 350.

The three black buttons are wired across the original pc-board-mount buttons, the shiny thing at the far right top is a blue LED that is connecte in place of the original red LED. Quick wrap with tape, and wired it in with the overhead lights.
You have to turn the interior lights on with the button before it will work, so I don't have to worry about someone opening my garage if they get into the cab (unless they turn the cab lights on, but they're on when the door is open so no need).
