Hey group!
My 1st post here,great site!
Ok for my question I will be ordering a 06 LBZ loaded on Thursday and need to know if the sliding rear window is a good item to order? Do they leak, freeze up,make noise, or make the truck more prone to breakins? I know I know what a n00b question. This will be my 1st diesel let alone p/u truck. So any info will greatly be appreciated

Welcome to the place SF! If you were getting a reg cab on order, I would consider getting the sliding window from the factory. If it were to be an Ex cab or CrewCab, I would look into an after market motorized sliding window with a switch on the dash to open and close it without having to pull over. You also lose the rear defog option when you order the sliding rear window.

Hey thanks for the speedy reply, oh yes it would be a CC. I remember see a after market company that made and sold them, can't find it for the life of me now. Are they very expensive? Reineke do you have their name or web site?

thx again,

SF

SF,
CR Laurence makes a Power Slider. You can find it here:

My truck came with the powerslider rear window. Its almost 10 years old now and have never had a problem with it. FYI

The only thing is that if you order the truck without the slider then it'll probably come with rear defrost. Then if you replace that window with a powerslider then you have a useless button on the dash and dead wires hanging out back by the rear window.

I'd order the factory slider, then if you wanted a power one later then you could always sell the factory slider on the forum pretty easy I bet (since they are somewhat rare).

I wish my truck had the factory slider.

I have a factory slider and my cap has a sliding window. I built a small compartment in the cap and now I have a place for rain coat, boots cooler, ect easy to reach thru the window on my regular cab. I also like to open the rear window on hot days when I am parked to keep the cab cooler.

damn damn, DuckhunterInTN I went down to the Dealer today with sweaty palms and totally forgot your comments and last moment didn't order the slider, but now after reviewing these great post I seeing your post again I remember I had decided to order the slider DAMN! Now I will not get any return on my existing window if order a aftermarket power slider. Well I guess I didn't have all my ducks in a row, Thanks for the great info tho,

Cheers,

That's pretty funny. I bet you would have no problem changing your order if you just placed it. I think you are able to change it up until a certain time before the truck is actually built. You might want to check with your dealer. I'd definitely get the factory slider if I could.

As far as the cab lights, they look great, especially on a black or white truck. The only truck I've seen that I don't especially like them on is a silver birch GMC for some reason.

You can change your order at least up to the time GM accepts it, and you have a few days before that happens.
