This kind of belongs here. Here is the new Colorado for Thailand, I wish I had all kinds of money to ship one here.

Nice looking rig. I'm sure they will show up here in short time. I bet one will be able to even get it with the diesel.

Put a honda emblem on it and call it a ridgeline, few people would be able to tell the difference, me included.

Holden has had one with the 3.0L 4-cylinder common rail turbo diesel engine for years.

I would love to have one shipped here.

It will be here in a couple years or less. GM just inked a deal (Today) with the UAW, the Wentzville plan will build the next generation mid-size truck. I can't imagine GM would develop another mid-size truck since they are going global with just about all their products. Chris

That is great news for St.Louis as they have lost a Ford plant and a huge Chrysler facility in the last few years. I read where the closing of the Chrysler plant alone cost the St.Louis region over 43,000 jobs total.

It does have a neutered look but I'm sure a few minor changes can Americanize it. The diesel engine would be a successful option in north america.

Except for the frame and solid rear axle. This will be a truck not a car with cargo area.

Sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean it. I was just stating what it looked like to me and I believe most people can see the resemblance. From the picture and the article posted I was able to obtain no knowledge of a solid rear axle or a real frame. Once again, sorry.

Doesn't matter what they look like. The Ranger is done after 2012 and there will be a void that needs filling.

Let's hope they're better built than the last generation of absolute garbage. We're just getting rid of the last 4 in our fleet. Went from 15 Canyons to 12 Transit Connects and 3 Rangers.

If thats got a diesel under the hood I could see myself looking at one of those more than once.

Highly unlikely, in my own opinion.

I bet one will be able to even get it with the diesel.

Not a chance, even less likely. When is the last time we were able to get a "diesel version" of any vehicle that is sold with a diesel overseas???? Diesel doesnt sell in the US. I know you and all your buddies would want to buy one ("and cant possibly see why it wouldnt sell like crazy!!!"), but that doesnt mean 99.99995% of other consumers would.

Midsize pickup trucks are dead here in the US. Its not like road/parking/roadway space is at a premium here (like it is in every other place in the world), and considering midsize trucks are really not any cheaper and really not that much more fuel efficient than a half ton, why would you even buy a midsize pickup truck????

Hate to tell you but that truck will be built in the US. Even a small increase in fuel mileage will help the standards that must be met.

I'll weigh in...

I've owned several Chevy S10 / GMC Sonoma's, and really wish they would STOP UPSIZING the smaller pickups! They are damn near the size of a half ton, and their fuel mileage is getting similar as well. I currently drive a 1996 Chevy S10 Ext Cab 2WD for work, with the 2.2L four banger and 5 spd. manual. It has 180,000 miles on it and going strong.

Go back to a smaller vehicle, like they were. Add a few inches length/width if you must. Offer a motor with the latest technology, like an eco-tech variant that can get 30+MPG with a manual transmission, perhaps a few less with an auto. A diesel offering would be great, but I would not count on it due to the cost.

These would sell. A lot of places would buy them for fleet/delivery vehicles instead of using cars like the HHR, or the Transit. They can handle larger items, and more weight.

I agree with the person that said this latest version in the picture looks like the Honda Ridgeline. STOP making trucks look like cars!!!

Again, this IS the new Colorado/Canyon replacement, will be built at the Wentzville plant starting within the next year or so. IF you read the article, a DURAMAX diesel engine (not sure the size, 2 variants mentioned?) will be an option overseas. Something to hope for here, considering the Cruze will be getting a diesel next year here in the US! Chris

I really dont think its that bad looking, Id probably drive one. The fact of the matter is that we're going to just have to get used to these smoother/more aerodynamic designs. We need these trucks to get better fuel economy, and its simply not possible with the older, boxier "more rugged" looking designs.

old brown, I agree with you. This truck, unlike all previous GM trucks is very, very, unattractive.

It's not a terrible looking truck, but that Ranger looked so much better. I'd drive it:)

Well, GM just confirmed the "new" Colorado for the US. Link above. Be interesting to see how it's packaged here. Chris

GM is claiming the Cruze will have diesel in 2014 since they've sold so many this year...

Mazda is bringing the 6 series 4 cylinder twin turbo diesel to the market the year before with no after treatments and still passing the newest emmissions standards.

According to Diesel Power anyway.

The Cruze 2.0 diesel will be coming out, hopefully, first quarter of 2013 according to the last press release from GM. GM today released info of a global SUV, RWD, BOF Trailblazer based off the Colorado. Sort of between the Equinox and Traverse. The teaser pic doesn't show much at GM press release. Chris

x2 Look at the Class 8 market. Peterbilt still makes the huge, long hood box nose for those individuals that are going for a classic big truck "look" but fleet trucks that demand fuel efficiency for the bottom line are always the aero style.

Times change, I like the more aero dynamic vehicles, bugs are pushed around more instead of going SPLAT.
I am all for better aerodynamics as long as they dont sacrifice proper cooling of all systems.

I saw this about the trailblazer and although the old trailblazer sucked I would like to see this one with the diesel in the us, I am not to happy with my current options for diesel suvs. Especially if you could tune it with EFI Live :D
