My limited knowledge of this type of truck doesn't make me an authority.

But, I can tell you that I had propane on a Powerstroke and it was awesome. Dyno'd 402HP/almost 800TQ. I don't believe you can add propane as a power enhancer without a turbo. The ONLY reason I say this is: the system I had uses a Hobbs switch to adjust when and how much propane is injected VS the amount of boost generated. Example, the propane only started flowing at 4lbs boost and increased proportionally as boost levels increased.

I do know what you mean about no-one giving a crap about the truck you own...remember, I got a 4500 and 99% of the people on this forum couldn't give a crap about it, seeing how they own the "smaller" trucks. Kinda feel like a red-headed step child of the truck world. Almost makes you want to start a club):h Problem is, there would only be 3 members or so. But, if I wanted to be like everyone else....I'd have bought a 1 ton dually:muahaha:

Back under the rock I go:D:D:D

well i guess i got at least one persons opinion i have seen somewhere that you can put propane to a non turbo engine but it is more of a fixed amount with a manual switch to turn it on also wired through a low oil pressure switch and the ignition switch to keep it from running after the engine is shut off or if the engine dies.

yeah i know what you mean by smaller trucks kodiak this one has a gvwr of 20,000 pounds with air over hydraulic brakes damn near throws you through the windshield without a bed on it.......lol

I think that the propane just lets you burn the diesel more efficiently. Instead of burning only 70-75% of the fuel, you burn closer to 90-95%. Also, it will act like a timing advance. Too much chip with too much propane is a disaster. I have seen pictures of aggressive chips + Propane and it adds up to a ventilated block. Done correctly, it will safely add almost 100HP and seems to keep the EGT's marginally cooler.

I think i could do it maybe with some sort of variable valve that worked off the accelerator pedal mine is not electronic so no chips available i would really like to turbo it though i think that it is supposed to have one but it aint there the truck was speced with a turbo and it loads up at idle you have to clear it out now and then after long periods of idleing

No electronics?? I would slap a turbo on that bad boy and start dumping in the diesel!!! Add a pyro guage to keep from cooking the pistons and roll some coal! Just like an old 12 valve Cummins.....dump in the fuel. Well, there is a bit more to it than that...but, you get my drift.

well that was the intent of my original question basically how to safely and properly turbo a non turbo non electronic engine so it will be reliable and still have the extra power for pulling hills big loads etc......

Any way of using this propane in a smaller scale to up our MPG?
