The Check engine light comes on for about 30 seconds when I start my
'06 3500 Dmax Express Van. Fluids are up, gauges are normal, no funny noises and drives fine. This is possibly explained in my owners manual which is currently hiding from me. Anyone know what this means?

Without knowing the code its a stab in the dark, but it could be a bad glow plug seeing as it shows up at start.
See if you can get a code.

And I'm going to assume you are not talking about the normal function of the light used for a bulb check every time you start the van....right?

All the other lights turn off within a few seconds of starting. I will borrow my friends code reader and find out more.

It wasn't the check engine light it was the HEY STUPID It's Time To Change The Oil Light.

Well...of all the lights/messages you can see come up on the dash, at least it is one of the cheapest and simplest to deal with.
