I started it up this AM and in the info panel said low coolant.

Jumped out and checked, yep the truck was below the cold fill line. So I ran inside and grabbed some of the wife's filtered water. (shhhhhh, I filled the bottle back up with tap water ):h ) And filled it up a little over the line. I drove on to my fathers home and got out and checked it. Now it was 3/4 of the way full.

Then I got to thinking about my driveway. It's at a slight slope downwards and a grade down towards the right. So the side where the coolant tank was would have been unlevel and shown the coolant low. (I guess the coolant level sensor is the little sensor under the tank close to the engine side)

Truck didn't light up that the first time I was at the dealership, but I know it was on total flat ground.

Am I worrying for nothing? I must admit it seems a little "chicken little" like. But I've just read all these loosing coolant and headgasket threads, it just leaves me uneasy.

I've got another 10K with GM's warrentee. Plus I got another 36K warrentee from the dealer as well. (through dodge, but they said if they can't fix it, they'll take it to GM and pay the bill)

I'll be rolling about 150-200 miles tommorrow. Maybe I'll mark the tank cold, then hot before leaving, then compair when I get back.

I just had a similar problem with my 02. Couldn't find the leak. It only leaked when it got hot and the system pressurized. It ended up being a pin hole in the cooling line to the turbo. You might want to check that out before you head out on the road. One of the guys had a thread about this a few weeks ago. I'll see if I can find it.

Went out this AM. I took the fill cap off and heard a slight puff. This was totally cold. I'm not exactly sure how these remote resv. systems work. But it shouldn't have any pressure after setting all night and being cold, right? It wasn't a gush of air, just enough to hear is puff.

I went ahead and started the engine. I let it idle for a min or two, then held it at 2K for a few seconds, then a few revs to 2K, then shut it down. I pulled the cap back off and heard the same slight puff sound. I felt of the rad. hoses and they were all cold. But I felt of the heater hoses and they were getting warm.

Is this normal? Should I take it in?

Ok engine has been running for 10mins now. Just getting close to warm, hoses are still not stiff. That's a good thing, I guess.

shut it down. Got up to about 170 temp wise. Cracked the cap off and only had a slight puff.

Put a total of 280 miles on it so far. I marked hot and cold. It's stayed between those marks. I'm gonna keep an eye on it though.
