Hi all. I don't post much but I read up on stuff quite a bit and bought some parts here.
I have a stock 2004 LB7, just hit 70K miles. Truck has always run fine but in recent months ( or year) MPG has dropped off to about 14-15. Was about 17-18. ( I drive too fast) It was actually even a little better than that when it had 245's on it. If I leave hard from a stop I blow black smoke, but not a ton of it, just enough to see in the daylight. Truck has noticably lost some of it's pep. I read up a bunch on here and ended up looking at the wastgate and found the following.
1. Cannot move the rod by hand either off or running.
2. Don't see it move at all when revved up. It's stock, not adjustable)
3. Was able to get it to move (toward the firewall) by blowing about 40psi of air into it.
4. Checked all the air routes and all seem closed and in great shape.
5. Running a clean and lightly oiled K & N
6. Buddy hooked it up to a Snap ON Scanner and the only code was something about a anti theft system.
Does any of the above indicate a problem? Any suggestions on where to look next?
Thanks
Joe
