i have a buddy with a 97 f350 7.3 powerstroke and he only gets 13mpg loaded & unloaded. other guys claim to be getting 18+mpg with same setup. would like to hear what you guys on here are getting out of yours and what kind of problem his could be having. thanks for any advice.

my buddy has a 97 F250HD extended cab 8' bed 4x4 auto with a banks chip(80 hp) banks down pipe and custom 5" exhaust and a open air intake and he is between 12 and 14 MPG! so i would say that your buddys is probaly in the right negiborhood of MPGs

I get around 18-20 unloaded with my 94 psd. And we have a 97 and a 95 psd's in the family that get 17-18 mpg. I would tell him to start simple. Check filters. A little more info about the truck will help also.

the truck has 4.10 gears and is acrew cab, long bed, srw. he did buy a programmer other than that it is stock. he does keep it maintained as far as filters.
