Found myself a great deal on a used pod and gauges Autometer(guy traded up to an attitude). Anyhow can anyone point me to somewhere to get a new thermocouple probe? This is the only part that's missing.

Have you ever herd of anyone loosing the end off the thermocouple and it going into the turbo. We never lost one on the big engines but was told this has happened. personally I think Its B/S but just wanted to get it out there.

The Auto Meter Probes being made of Stainless are pretty durable,as I'm sure the rest are ... I haven't heard of a incident yet ....

I do recall someone having an issue breaking a "probe" during install and having to remove manifold to retrieve pieces .... This is anouther incident besides the poor guy having the problem on anouther thread ....

Moral of that story is never start, and pull the manifold if a problem arises ... The gasket is reusable by the way ...

I installed the Autometer Z Series Pyrometer (Model 2665), in the pillar. This model requires a Type K thermocouple, (chromel-alumel with
yellow and red wires).
I wanted an adjustable thermocouple with a plug-in connector, and an extension cable. This plug at the TC will make removal much easier.
I mounted my TC Pre-Turbo in the Passenger Exhaust Manifold. The 10 foot cable extension was enough for me. The only adjustable TC with plug I found two years ago is listed below:

1) Isspro R658PL Type K adjustable TC with plug
2) Isspro R660-10PL 10 foot extension cable with plug

A Type K Thermocouple is a Type K Thermocouple. You don’t have to match Manufacturers of TC’s to gauges.

Kennedy sells Isspro. Give him a call.

geno,

When we took the heads of I pulled my probe. Still looked fine. Must have 50,000 miles on it. My gauge wasn't working right fo about 6 months or so. Sometimes fine, sometimes crazy readings. After pulling it and putting it back in it's working great again. Must have had a bad connection.

Thanks for the last tid-bit of info Hoot. My SPA guage has been doing something similar. It reads 32 most of the time, but occasionally comes to life and gives me legitimate readings. I'll try pulling / reinstalling to ensure a good connection.
