: Any Other LMM van owners? Regen Q

Been reading the re-gen threads from the pickup threads and the consensus seems to be that re-gens occur at 40+ grams of soot.

According to my DashDaq, the re-gens are occurring like clockwork at 17grams...anywhere between 350 and 380 miles. I'm thinking this is maybe excessive as I drive with a VERY light foot and it is nowhere near the 40 number of the trucks.

Does anyone else have any experience with an LMM in a van? Are the DPF's in the vans different than the pickups to require such a short re-gen? I hate taking it to the dealer...the more a truck goes to the dealer...the more it goes to the dealer it seems.

Oh...the van, even though it is a 2009, is brand new...I've had it on the road for a couple weeks and have 5000 miles on it.

You only use 17 grams of fuel in 350 miles ?

Okay, I am stupid. What kind of MPG are you getting ? I would say take it in now to the dealer before warranty is gone.

do you have emissions testing up there? if not, remove the dpf.
you can read the regular truck lmm subforum for info too. the engines are basically the same as the van, except the van comes detuned.

Stupid....I highly doubt that. Lucky you have an LBZ instead of the LMM for sure.

On the highway I am getting 19 to 22 depending on what part of the country I am in and how heavy the load is. I replaced a Sprinter with this truck and get the same mileage without the Sprinter grief:thumb:

Only E-testing here is a smoke test that even a forest fire would pass, but the truck is a commercial vehicle that runs here and the lower 48 so I need to be a little careful about removing stuff.

Hey Piper glad to see you made it to this board I am the same 60MPH on EO. Nice looking van there, I can't help you with your question cause mine is a 06 and am lucky enough not to have a DPF. Good luck with your van, I am sure you won't have any problems like the Sprinter has:eek: funny to see you posting here as I am waiting to pk a load going to Brampton tonight.. going to Chrysler ugh... but it pays well coming from N.H. take it easy and be safe out here.

what was wrong with the sprinter? i thought they were pretty solid, and with good fuel economy??

also, thats an intersting body on your van. is it fiberglass?

My opinion, the 2006 and older Sprinters weren't too bad but the new style 07 up are just not up to the task for heavy commercial use. The fuel mileage was OK I averaged between 19 and 21 for the 200,000 miles I had my 08 but the emission system Benz put on the vans was nothing but headache. The vans are also overly complex (expensive to fix) and are built with car parts...not truck parts. I need a real truck under my van, not a car. It was however, very nice to drive.

My van is a CargoMax 600. It is a fiberglass body with good aerodynamics and Sprinter space, but a real GM chassis underneath! I run a lot of miles and need durability and good fuel mileage. I now have both.

UPS here had nothing but problems with the Sprinter. I would never buy one.

I didn't buy it willingly that's for sure. I had a freight contract that I needed to haul a crate 11.5 ft long, 5.5 ft high and 4ft wide..1400 miles, 6 times a month. My choice was the Sprinter or a cube van on a GM...the fuel mileage of the cube would have killed me. If the CargoMax had been around in 08 I woulda bought one in a heartbeat (no pun intended). I was hauling it in a pickup (my 06) but the customer politely said get a big van or loose the contract.. They considered the open truck or a trailer a security risk (the contents of the crate were worth $800,000+).

Never again will I stray from the GM mothership...I learned my lesson.
