I am putting my new PMD on and have noticed most of the intake bolts have white residue on them. Do they have to be installed with teflon (tape, liquid) or with thread locker?

Nothing is required but the white is most likely heat induced oxidation from the electron flow through the block. It can impare the grounding wires from making a good ground if bad enough, as they attach to these studs.

Thanks. The residue looks like chunky gum or something- thicker than oxidation. I'll need to put them to a wire wheel before I install.

I book I have says dip the bolts in engine oil first, the other makes no mention for anything...

Possibly that's liquid teflon.

A dab of loctite is a good idea to ensure that the studded units do not twist if you need to come back and pull it apart later.
