Hello Everyone,

I need some advice from ya'll. I currently own a 2005 Sierra 1/2 z71-13,000 miles. It is an SLT with every option I bought as a GM exec truck. I found a 2003 GMC Sierra Ext Cab Duramax with 37,000 miles. It is an SLE and is very very clean. My dealer wants 3500 dollars and my truck bring the total to finance to about 34,000 dollars. Does this seem like a bad idea or not. I am burring about 3000 in neg equity by doing the trade. I really like this diesel but it is 2 years older with more miles and no leather etc. opinions please.

How many miles per year do you drive, and how much if any towing do you do? Diesels take a long time to save their additional cost. The more you tow and the more miles/year you drive, the faster the payback.

I tow a 23 foot sea ray once or twice a week and a 14 foot landscape trailer 4 times a week and about 15k a year

youll love the diesel. I had a 96 Z71 before my current duramax and the two do not even compare. Fuel mileage is much higher towing and the power is great. Just to let you know when I bought my truck I got it new loaded for 35k before tax. It now has almost 6k hrs on the motor and 142,000+ on the odo and is still kicking like the day it was new. Good luck and hope to see you on the board with a new DMAX!

Seems a tad high for a 3 year old truckwith average+ miles. For another 3-5K you could get a new '05 leftover.

Don't get in a hurry, if you're already upside down on your truck fix that first. Sell it for all you can. There are plenty of Damx's to go around and w/ the price of fuel there are bound to be more groccery haulers coming on the market.
