: Duramax for Germany !

Hello from germany,

after the big discussion a few weeks ago, what is better for me: D'max
or Powerstroke...now, my decision is to buy a Duramax .:D
A LB7, because they are expensive in germany.

But one question I have: does somebody knows how many D'max has
haved problems with the injectors ?
Has every D'max problems with it ?

It makes me a little bit headhurt, because if these injectors are going broken, it would be hard for me, here in germany, to get a warranty
from GM in USA.

But when it happened, would somebody of you guys help me,
to fight for the warranty ? I mean, maybe, someone here has connection
to GM or like this.

Greetz Oliver

Sorry for my bad english :)

look for Olee, he is also in germany. he has asked same questions, contact vendors they will be best source. Olee normally hangs out in 6.5 section, search him out,if i remeber there are about 4-5 members there. main problem is injectors(BOSCH) and not all trucks, some feel the fuel is cleaner(filtering) there which may cause the problems.

Oliver,
GM's policy on warranty is: if the truck is exported to a country where GM is not selling that truck themselves you'll have no GM factory warranty. Here in Australia trucks are imported by specialized companies that convert them to Right Hand Drive and they are sold with a warranty provided by warranty companies (mine has a 3 year 200,000 km warranty). It would certainly be worth a try if your injectors go bad to contact GM and see what they can do for you but you have no rights.

I am in southern Spain and as said before GM will not warranty the vehicle. Gm dealers will only have a tech 2 and a few spares and fluids for this model. Spares are very expensive.60$ for a fuel filter and I had to buy six for them to place the order. 65$ for a litre of grapejuice!!!!!!!

I get all my spares etc from the vendors on this site.
YouŽll have the normal import duty and tax to pay but it still works out way cheaper.
The independant importer who brought it over for me has given me a 12 month warranty. He has paid for my predator already.
Buy a predator or similar to check the codes, it will save a trip to the dealer etc. plus it has a few more tricks inside....
Tech info on this site is frankly amazing, and everyone will help you out.
If my injectors fail it would be cheaper and quicker to fly a tech over here to fix it properly. Do regular maintenance, plus the fuel seems much cleaner here so hopefully my injectors last.
They truck does cost alot of money in Europe but for me there was no alternative.
Hope this helps

I have not had any injector issues as of yet. 2002 with only 16,000 miles. Some others have a lot more miles with the same results.
This seems to be a Bosch problem. The other brands have had injetor issues also, so don't let the injector problems on GM trucks sway you.
Check with a big GM dealer to find out warrenty issues, like Dave Smith or like. I am sure they can point you in the right direction or answer your questions.
Depending on how mechanicly inclined you are some have easily changed out their own injectors.

Hola fatboy63: you live in southern Spain (Marbella) ?!?!? Just returned from Cadiz (our 2nd home) and investigating GM service stations in Spain: 1 in Madrid, 2 in Marbella. Do the stations know what a Duramax is ???????????

Hi flaxi

Guilty as charged, yes Marbella, just under the big mountain.
GM Spain have no idea, in Mijas there is GM dealer for corvette, blazer, tahoe etc but went to buy a trailer hitch fuse and had blank looks for about 20 minutes. Nobody believed I could register a 3500 here.....mind you it took 11 months!!!!!! Thankfully Dmaxallitech sorts out my spares and fun bits.
Mine is a work truck, would love to have another to play with.
Maybe IŽll come to the States next year to source one for myself and get it all tricked out over your side of the pond to save on the damn duty etc.. its a killer.

Cadiz, thatŽs a nice unspoilt part of the coast unlike where I live.

I think that that is cool that you guys are bringing the DMAX to Europe. I would absolutely love to read about one of you guys out running a nice Italian sports carin a drag race!! MrTurboDiesel there was a forum poll about injector failure and at what mileage a couple of weeks ago. Do a search for injectors and you should find it. Good luck with your LB7, I love mine.

I found the poll. Here is the link.

@ all ...Thanks for information

@ 02 Durabeast...Thank you.

I think, it gives some D'max-driver in Europe and specially in germany.
One of them is flaxi ( here in this forum too) :)

He gives me every information and details about Duramax and I
had the chance to drive his 02 D'max.....wonderful..:D

If I buy a D'max at a german dealer, he gives me warranty and
so, if the injectors are going bad, the warranty-company had to pay for
this...I hope so. :D
