In a passing discussion there was mention of tuning a Diesel using A/F & EGT.

It seems to be the preferred method, unless I missed something somewhere.

I was wondering if there is some sort of guide put together for this somewhere?

I seem to find a good bit of information relating to Gasoline but not Diesel.

It would be really cool to find a put tab A into slot B to achieve varying stages of Nirvana relating to application of said Nirvana.

Anybody have an idea where something like that might be?

Any recommendations on gauges or tools for this task?

Thanks,

Was this a really dumb question or something?

I am not a tuner, but the differences between gas and diesel are great. You can get a rough idea of the air and fuel mixture by looking at the exhaust. The more black smoke you have the more un-burnt fuel you have. An EGT gauge is useful in tuning to achieve a good timing setting and injection duration. Tuning a diesel is a skill and the people who are good at it aren’t talking. :secret:

Although this is not a surprise really, it is disappointing. I have a couple of tunes that work pretty well for me now that started as downloads and a couple that I got with the tuner from Guy Tripp. (A great Guy so to speak :hail: )

While I am not completely lost I was hoping for some sort of general procedure and sequencing set. I'll figure it out by comparison and logic and reason and research. That is, after all the way that the guys that are good at it got that way. I'll keep digging and i will find answers eventually. :banghead: :bangdesk:

Sort of a drag when people become so secretive, kind of like dealing with our government isn't it?

And my thought for the day:

Machines are inanimate objects, therefore they will, eventually, respond to reason, much unlike humans.

Thank you very much for your reply. :beerchug:
